  • These are online E-gift cards correct?

    • these are prepaid visa card, just like the coles prepaid mastercard
they can be added to mobile wallet (eg. Apple pay) to use in-store
or using the card number for online shopping (use like a debit card)

      • So it's a physical gift card that can also be used online?

        • +3

its a digital prepaid visa card

to use instore: add to mobile wallet (apple pay / google wallet)
to use online: open the TCN app, click on the card to view the card number / CVV and expiry date

          • @littlesoldier: Cheers, not useful for me then :)

            • @TerryJustTerry: I'm curious what your usecase is for that this cannot be used

              • @TheFreaK: A boss at work is looking for physical gift cards to be given out as a referral incentive for older colleagues.

They tried suggesting digital ones, but many recipients would prefer a physical card because they can't be fussed with digital ones (likely due to tech resistance).

  • anyone tested for ato payments?

    • +9

Bought $20 and it worked, and I just bought $450 and also worked.

      • Ato fees?

        • +2

no fee as it's considered as debit card

      • thanks

    • I use these to prepay my tax bill using CC's I churn. Have had no issues doing so over the last couple years

  • +6

I have some of these digital visa that I can't use the very last cent.
i.e I can only pay up to $19.99 when there is $20 balance.
I have tried Woolworths in store as well as paying water fee online.
It's not a big problem but just a bit annoying when I forget about that and keep getting payment denied…

    • Was a refund processed onto the TCN Visa gift cards where you cannot redeem the last cent?

I have been able to use the full balance of all my TCN Visa gift cards except for one where I had a merchant process a refund onto it.

      • No, there was no refund process.
They were $500 initially and used to pay $4xx rego fee.

      • On a no refund history card, the last cent may be not used when there was a $xx.99 charge. It has occurred to me twice.

    • Most likely a pre authorisation on the card. Wait a couple of weeks and you should be able to use that 1 cent.

I recommend using the entire balance of the card in 1 go if not that when you get these random pre authorisation. But l agree some card don't allow you to use the entire balance.

The other part is when company charge 20.001 caused by a surcharge.

I actually waited a few weeks and went to Woolworths in store to use my one cent. Coz I'm a true OZ bargainer. 😂
        Still unsuccessful.

        • Name and shame the card.

Note most online payment / gift cards system require at least 5 or 10 or 20 dollars. So if you do want to dump the balance into utility you need to leave more than cents or 1 dollar.

          • @pandadude: The issue when the remaining amount is $10.01, I can only use $10. When I enter the exact amount, the card will be rejected for insufficient balance.

            • @Neoika: Who is issuing the 10.01 cards?

Is the provider actually issuing the card for 10 or 10.01?

    • Unusually would do 15 instead of 20, so the 5 can actually be used anywhere even when they have a minimum $5 purchase.

  • +1

What is the benefit in this instead of just paying with my usual visa/MasterCard?

    • Meeting CC minimum spend for bonus points based on timing, you may not need to spend now but it’ll help churn to your next CC

    • +4

you get points to pay ATO

    • +3

If you are getting those reward credit cards where you need to make $5000 spend in 3 months to get 100K points, this is a way to reach it and you can spend that money later.

  • True to this, I have like 6 card with 1c balance that cannot be used. Keep getting declined (tried wollies)

    • +7

      Let them go, brother

  • Can buy $8k worth to prepay my tax bill? Asking for a friend.

  • Will this come as a "cash advance" on an amex card?

  • Can I use this to take away shops to avoid fees?

    • No, they always tack on fees regardless of debit or credit

    • Depends - if they have a surcharge for any credit card or card transactions then no. Sometimes there's no fees for EFTPOS only.

  • Has anyone recently checked whether DEFT payments can be made with this card?

    • +2

recall from memory DEFT only works with prepaid master (eg. Coles prepaid master, Vanilla mastercard)
but have not test this card specifically

  • Note prepaid card are only really good for reducing the surcharge value were applicable.

For example Perth Airport has a surcharge for online parking booking regardless of payment method.

The prepaid card have less surcharge than credit cards.

  • +2

Looks like the page you’re looking for doesn’t exist, is temporarily unavailable or has been removed.

    Ended??

    • Same.. Sold out already? :(

    • same

  • How much will it take for the card to be delivered after order is placed?

  • Darn… only managed to buy 1. Bloody Amex had a block on my card.

  • +2

snap.. my amex didnt work. rang amex to get it sorted.. and went back and sold out.. damm

  • crummy website, probably crashed out now

  • That was fast.

  • ended???

  • Just called up, apparently they sold out in a few minutes! Says in terms til sold out

    • +1

      No, at least 40 mins.

You just created an ID to say it.

  • Have not received the card purchased 40min again

  • +2

Clearly they had 10 cards to give away fee free. This went way too fast!

    • +1

No, I bought 3 cards, totally under $1k. The person above saying to buy $8k to pay tax bills crashed it.

  • how do gift cards run out - its digital - surely they have a computer that just issues more

    • +1

      Digital doesn't mean unlimited

    • They’d only set an amount aside to cover fees. Still costs them something to issue the cards.

  • +1

Bruh. I have bills to pay. Bring this back.

  • WTF, was literally searching for this type of card this morning to pay for ATO

  • +2

    EPIC FAIL
I even got an email saying the promotion ends on Friday, April 4th 11:59pm (unless sold out prior)

  • VISA Promotion Update!

The no fee promotion for Visa products is now SOLD OUT.

If you continue with the purchase, fees will be applied and charged.

    Damn….

  • Haha same. My amex blocked it so i decided to wait a bit until trying again but now the card fee is back up.
