    free for today only

So after today, we will be charged for using it?

Frollo is always free and uses open banking APIs to automate it

    • That one doesn't save you $130 though…

      • Is this app usually $130?

        • That's what it said when I installed it…

          • @jv: Oh, Frollo likely claims more.

They use Yodlee (which uses open banking API) to connect your accounts and view all transactions in one spot along with category sorting, trends, etc. Has csv exporting too, so you can analyse the data further yourself.

You can setup a budget and it will determine if a transaction has been budgeted for or not too.

Note the privacy concerns though; they anonymously use this data to analyse spending habits. Likely the data is sold to lenders and to large companies.

Free for life commonly occurs when the developer has a new version of the app to be released. Once the new version is released, there are never any updates to the older app. Plus the new app is a paid purchase.

The same thing happened to the Savey expense tracker app deal.

What you guys use to keep the receipts - Book keeping for tax

    • Expensify. It automatically scans the receipt and adds it to your transaction info.

Works flawlessly with PDF receipts, hit and miss with photo scanning (sometimes have to manually enter data, but it still saves the receipt photo). Note it's quite slow.

It keeps a copy of the photo/PDF for tax records.

FOSS and obviously doesn't share your data

  • Max 6 categories in income.. create a new category and adds it under expenses

  • If the app is free, your data is the product.

Free and open source. Doesn't mine or sell your data because it's local.
