How much to deliver with ice included?

  • -7

I can get 3 bags of ice for $10 at my local servo.
    I have a bathtub.
I would have to have more than 79 ice baths (servo ice + bathtub) before the chiller product becomes cost effective.
With a 1 year warranty I would have to be doing it at least once every 4 or 5 days to reach that number.
    That's a pass from me.

"I'm never going to do this, and so here's why this is a bad deal"

    • -4

Joe Rogan recommends to do it daily.

However you should adjust your calculation to account for the higher electricity use by using the chiller compared to buying ice.

      • I also get all my health advice from a pot smoking centillionaire who has servants to do everything else that needs to get done in the day and who advised against the covid vaccines.

        • +7

Yes better to get your health care advice from the struggling pharmaceutical industry.

          • -1

@dickiee: Nah. I wouldn't trust either. He got the covid vaccines thing correct. <insert broken clock reference here or one about setting up controlled opposition and controlled alt media>
But then he went and supported Mr Warpspeed himself.

          You are definitely a beta

Absolutely, it’s not for everyone! Just keep in mind that three bags of ice will only cool the water slightly below room temperature. If you need a more consistent chill, we’re here to help

      • +1

I think people don't realise how much ice one needs to chill the water down to 10deg or lower from say 20deg. I could only get the water down to 12deg after putting 3 bags of ice worth $15 from 7/11. Do that daily and the cost adds up to a lot more than what a chiller would cost.

    • picked up a small chest freezer on fb for $100, bought 3x 10L of water from aldi as my ice. only gets my water to around 10-12 degrees thou, but thats already pretty cold for me.

  • Does it also filter the water to stop it getting gross?

    • +4

It has a double filtration system (pre-filter and 20micron filter) and helps keep the water clean for about 3-4 weeks (dependent on use and care)

      • Is there a way to add UV and/or ozone treatment to the filtration system so it essentially removes the need to change water every few weeks?
I recently got the Ice Bath starter pack from you guys and keen to upgrade to an ice bath pro. But water treatment is what I'm concerned about.

  • How long does it take the chiller to reach 2-3 degrees and for the filtration system to work so you have to leave the chiller on 24/7

    • +2

It can get as low as 3 degrees. Takes about 12-16 hours the first time you fill it up, after that the temperature is pretty well maintained.
No you can turn the chiller off, but leave the pump running so it circulates the water through the filtration

Gotta love the AI 5 star reviews. Anyone else just read the bad reviews to get the real story?

    • Yeah it's the worst time to be alive for online product reviews.

Trying to sort through all the different lithium battery brands giving me a headache from the algo speak and generated images

  • What would your doctor say about this?

      Cool!

The science his shifted on ice baths and saunas. Both still deemed good for you but to a far lesser extent than what was being claimed.

    • "fit users up to 6'4""

looks like a toy in the photos - so I'm assuming the users need to be dismembered first, which doesn't seem very good for them

      but I'm no doctor

    • It was inevitable.

The best you can hope for is percentages, like 1/3/5% improvements.

I still see people at the gym go in for 30-40 minute sauna sessions at a time, cranking the heat , throwing water, in out in out, the science never supported any of that crap in the first place.

The cold and heat shock proteins are a response to the initial stimulus, there's always this stupid broscience attitude of "more = better" and it's a waste of time and energy.

The only semi valid science is around the Soeberg principle and that's mostly a metabolic symptom that has been difficult to prove but is now massively marketed to people online.

Best way to test is to try it yourself. I kept hearing about this for years but never gave it any thought. Gave it a go in my bath tub a couple of times and noticed improvements to some chronic conditions within a couple of days. I don't think it's going to work for everyone but it's worth a try just to see if it makes any difference to you.

  • Want to ask - do these need to adhere to the pool fencing laws?
Or can these get away with child safety clips?
And if so, are your clips that type? Can't tell from the pictures….

Have an annoying neighbour which is nosy and dobs everyone in the street in for everything!

    • The Pro and Barrel have lockable lids with clips, making them pet and child proof. We can't speak for each local council regulations, but we haven't had any customer in Aus reach out to us with any concern from council.

Should I get this or the nurecover PodChiller??

Ahh, what does it matter, it's all shipped from the same place! 🍌🐒

    • We have three warehouses where we hold goods. Sydney, Chino California and Essex UK. All ship from the local warehouses. Products are designed here and we work with our manufacturers on each of our Ice bath and Sauna products.

      • -2

Where are you manufacturers located? In Sydney, Chino California and Essex UK I'm guessing?

        • Do you knock every company trying to make a buck?

            @xtommyk: If they're drop-shipping overpriced garbage, yes.
