      It's a good price, but don't know about the second part. Battery prices are dropping pretty fast.

      Has anyone ordered a lifepo4 from Temu? I wonder what they are like. With a 40% cashback, they come to like $150/100ah

      • I mean, as low as you're likely to get it from Kings in the reasonably foreseeable future.

        I wouldn't risk getting a better from Temu. You definitely want an Australian business to be answerable if your car bursts into flames. It's also worth the extra cost to be able to walk into a 4WDSC, Anaconda, etc. and get a replacement.

        Lastly, when I had an issue previously, it was good to be able to say "the entire set up is by Kings" when they said the issue might be with X part of my setup.

    I am amazed at the price of some of the lead acid batteries these days, they cost as much as this.

    Only thing I haven't worked out is how this will go longevity wise if I stick it in my EV, will the EV think I have a lead acid and try to keep the charge level too high and ruin the battery, or will the Rated Float Charge Voltage of 14.4V mean that its highly unlikely to have an issue asde frlm maybe a slightly shorter life if I upgrade to this?

    • Why are you putting it in your EV, can you not use V2L instead? How are you charging it from your EV?

      • Strangely the one I am thinking of putting it in doesn't have v2l, and so far I don't know that anyone can add it in. I wish it did have it, but the price I pad for the car was too hard to pass up so I made the compromise. All I need to do is add a battery like this and inverted, and then work out the dc-dc charging charging specs so I make sure I am not overloading anything and it should be sweet for at least camping and emergencies.

        It would charge frlm the EV as it would replace the regular lead acid battery

        Edit: just realised these are half a meter long, definitely too big for replacing the lead acid, will need to look for a smaller one

        • You sure you don't mean RV instead of EV? This is not a starting battery,

          would make great dual/leisure battery though.

            @ozhunter68: I mean EV, EVs don't need to crank, the starting battery is just there to turn on all the 12V system gear which is the same as in any other car, so a deep cycle is fine and has the added bonus of potentially lasting longer and also being better for running an inverter

  • These are probably okay but I still haven’t seen a tear-down or proper test after they’ve been on the market for years.

      There are a few tear-downs and capacity tests on YouTube. They did change over some of the internals a little while back, from memory, so some of the older stuff won't be as relevant.

      Not a thorough comparison, but that one is 100ah continuous discharge as opposed to 200ah for the kings, important if you want a run an inverter, but not so much for lesser loads, and an 2 year warranty for a predominately online seller, vs a 3yr one with a store with quite a few bricks and morter stores for easy returns. That's just from a quick review of the specs.

      • Kings says 2yr in the description for some reason and 2000 cycles, while this one claims 3000 cycles. It's the same seller from this deal.

        • 3 yrs in the title, and 3 years on their website, I think the description hasn't been updated. Kings say greater than 2000 cycles, they say approximately 3000. I personally would put too much weight on that claimed difference, especially with the claimed RRP.

          Looking at the end of that previous post, it looks like those are pouch cells, vs prismatic in these as well. If you can't afford the extra $70, and don't need the higher current draw, then the one you linked is a good deal, although I think if you can afford the extra, then this is a case where it's worth paying it.

          • @tryagain: It's about deal comparison and benefits. It should be around $110 diff if you factor the delivery fee. I'd assume 1k cycles diff based on the numbers and expect 5-8yr of life per 1 charge/day. Same inconsistant rrp on King's too from this. Rating of both sellers is great. Kings' one does look solid compared to this unbranded. My use case is for a backup atm. I check if I need more than 100A discharge. Cheers!

    Could somebody please advise me here. I need two batteries for my camper van, they are leisure batteries, totally separate from engine battery. They are type Varda F21. (https://www.everybattery.com.au/product/varta-silver-agm-sta…)

    These things costing $530 each. Wondering if I buy two of these instead to do the same job. Got no idea about batteries, and googling is not giving me any decent answers. These batteries run the internal fridge and give power.

    Would really appreciate anybody’s expert and experienced feedback, rhanks

      You currently have AGM batteries. These are lithium. Yes you can replace yours with these but you may have to change out your charger and or solar controler if they are not compatible with lithium

      • Thanks for your time. I guess I will need to re-frame my question, as it would now appear that what I should really be asking is whether a VW California T5 (2012) is compatible with lithium batteries, or do I need to do some conversion. Back to Google 😩

          As noted above, to charge these batteries you may need to update your onboard BC-DC charger.

          To use these batteries, no problem. The Kings batteries can be set up in parallel (maximum of 2), so it's pretty much a straight swap.

          • @willyroo: As long as they fit, as the Kings are bigger.

            Those Varta batteries are only 80 Ah starting/stop-start batteries, not really deep cycle.

      Do you know if you have a 12v or 24v setup for those batteries? if it's 12V, just one of these batteries would give you double the amount of usable power you have now, but these are bigger than the ones you have now, so space might be an issue too. As others have said, you will likely need to replace your chargers, but it's still probably a better proposition to do that than replace like for like.

      It's a bit unclear what you're asking. Do you currently have 2* Varda F21 and you want to replace them with kinds? Or are you trying to compare the Varda to the Kings? You want to have Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFeP04) batteries for inside of a camper van. AGM is not good. Then there's the question of if you need 2 of them or if you can get away with just 1 (That depends what you plan to run). Then you'll need to figure out how you plan to charge the batteries.

      They don't seem to have put that one on the price rollercoaster yet that a lot of their other items are on, I am planning to do somewhat of a DIY BatBock with the 200A one, likely won't be as nice of a form factor though.

  • Just a question, what does "Allowed Batteries Connected in Series/Parellel Bank (Same Batch)" mean?
    Does it denote how many batteries can be connected to each-other in series and/or parallel? Or does it describe how many internal battery cells are connected in series/parallel inside the battery itself?

    Is this a good/cheap way to top-up/extend something like an Ecoflow Delta?

    • I think you need their own batteries to extend those, that's according to their documentation.

      • You need Ecoflow batteries if you just want to plug it in and have it just work - and as a bonus, your wallet will be much lighter and easier to carry around.

        With these, you can pretty easily feed the power into the DC input of the Ecoflow, but you still need to figure out some way to properly charge it.

      AFAIK - Yep, you can use the DC input ports on the EcoFlow Delta to give you the extra power as in input. The only thing you won't get with that kind of setup is a recharge (that's only on their proprietary extension batteries because you can then use Solar input on that same input port), so you'll probably want to get a fused battery box and charger for the Kings battery.

    • Yes, just check YouTube for various ways you can customise/upgrade with some basic electric and wiring skills.
