Firm Double Mattress in a Box

Hi all,

bought a low toddler bed in double size and now looking for a firm reasonable mattress. Went to look at the Ozbargain favourite zzz atelier but currently out of stock.

Any other I should look it?

Just be wary that the edge support from mattresses in a box is very low - tendency to roll off the edge.

    • I found sleep republic one not too bad on the sides.
Certainly night and day difference to our old one which I think was a first gen koala or ez bed

    • Plus one on that. However, you get used to it after a while.

I've had my last zzz mattresses slowly disintegrate (within in a year or so) and kill my back in the process. I've moved to an extra firm one from Ikea and it has been solid for about 2 years now. I can recommend them over zzz.

Just bought a mattress of Mydeal. My toddler has only rolled out of bed once. So far so good.

    • A meaningless stat without knowing how many times they have slept on it without rolling out ;-)

      • It was the third night. And it was because he turned himself around and had no idea where he was! He's now slept in it for a couple of weeks and hasn't had any more issues.

  • Check out sleep republic, I’ve had mine since 2022 and still like new.

    • Talking like $1000 plus delivery? Hoping sub $500

    Ikea

    • I agree. Nothing wrong with the Sultan range from Ikea

Go to a local mattress builder and get a proper one. Way cheaper and way better than the junk they sell online in a box.

    • Yep as much as i don't like bricks and mortar stores you have to give it to them. For something you spend 1/3 of your life in it's worth the investment.

      This is the way

Maybe I’m an outlier here, but I bought a zzz atelier and it didn’t take long to regret it. I’m not a heavy guy - but lying too long in one spot on it creates a huge impression and you go to roll over you’re basically rolling up hill onto the nice unsunken half of the bed. Very little sustained support, and by the weekend you’ll be wanting to rotate it again so you’re not stuck with the soft spot where you usually lay. I’d say it’s ok for a guest bed mattress but as a daily driver never again.

  • Going to probably give this a go for toddler bed $189
