Changed from Boost to Kogan Mobile

Hi all,

Just thought I'd let you guys know:

After being a loyal boost customer for the last 5+ years I changed over and it's very evident that kogan has much faster speeds and better signal (at least at my work place).

It's quite surprising the difference in just page loading. If there are substantial issues, I will post about those too.

  • You are also comparing Telstra vs Vodafane networks.

  • I was considering going the other way around but this appears quite interesting..

    Yep, noticed the same.

If you're regularly in the city in high coverage areas Kogan is better than boost with speed - significantly.

If you're looking to ensure that any rural trip will keep you in range go with Boost.

  • I was with Boost for a year and had bad reception in some parts of the city (for example in my doctor's office that I had to visit regularly at one stage I had almost no reception).

Since I changed to Catch it has been much better

    • Like the OP, you are comparing different networks - Telstra vs Optus.

      • Yes I know but everyone always assumes that Telstra is the best, but that was not my experience

So you could say you got a boost with Kogan

It uses Vodafone though which has crappy reception where I live and quite a few places that I visit regularly.

  • Kogan only give you 4G while Boost 5G?

  • +1

Agree. Kogan 4G is better than Boost 5G, and it was half the price for the year.

In the City I get constant internet on the train, even in tunnels with Kogan. Boost would cut in and out and have deadspots.

Not what I expected at all.

  • Kogan Mobile is completely useless for me in the key Brisbane CBD buildings I need it (even ping requests fail, it’s not merely slow). Boost however can get data flow in the same buildings. Tried both at exact same time - iPad and iPhone devices. Experiences can differ significantly even in the CBD unfortunately.
