If Amazon Delivered to Your Neighbour and They Kept It - What Would You Do? Please Discuss

The very situation happened with me recently. Funnily enough I ordered something that piqued my interest after seeing a deal for the product on this very site.

Got the notification that the item was out for delivery…. then the notification that it had been delivered. I was very excited, open my front door and there's NO ITEM!

Panic set in, maybe the driver kept it for himself? Do further investigating and check the tracking……………………. the photo proof of delivery was definitely NOT my front door.

Did a bit of investigating and yes the photo matches the residence of one of my neighbours and the package was no longer there. Knocked on the door and no answer.

Would you just consider the item lost or get police intervention?

    • And yet somehow the naïveté grows stronger.

    • As I've repeatedly said I asked for advice with what others would do in the same situation. I had already put a plan to action before reading the responses (contacted Amazon, let them know and proved that the item was delivered to the wrong address, got refund, re-ordered the same item and it was delivered successfully the next time).

And no the neighborly thing has not happened, they've kept the item for themselves (good on them for stealing a $110 item).

Then you're clearly not a decent enough neighbour that they will keep your stuff out of spite. On to the next whinge…..

  • I would first put a bigger sign of my house no to make it more visible

  • LOL @ getting police intervention.

Why does everything have to be so complicated? Amazon never delivered your item at your door, so ask them to send it to you.

  • Happened to me once, until I noticed my item (corsair SSD) was dropped at my neighbour because Amazon delivery driver dropped the item supposedly to be my neighbour's. I went and swapped around and left a note because I opened my neightbour's package and told them to contact Amazon. I called Amazon and provided the feedback too.

I'd form a team of skilled professionals and enter their house when they are away and search for the parcel.

  • Lol. Even when packages get delivered to my neighbours. I say it wasn't received and get a refund. If they are kind enough to return it, great.

It wasnt delivered to my house. I'm not going door to door looking for my stuff.

I can't believe you needed a post for this. Get your money back and move on.

Straight to ACA to tell them about your dodgy neighbours from hell.

Go to 60 minutes and Tracy Grimshaw will jump at this story, no doubt. Easily 30 to 40 minutes worth of material.

  • No need to argue. Just complaining to Amazon. You will get replacement. Once you show Amazon the photo of your neighbour front door

Sorry to say but the police will be of zero help unless its a life threatening situation. I've called the local police station to report a break-in in progress (we had a live video feed) effectively handing them the whole thing on a silver platter and the best they could do was "we'll look into sending someone out, maybe 1-2 hours time". Naturally the offender would have been long gone by then, utterly useless bunch.

  • Amazon would have sent you a new one by now if you had told them as soon as it happened. Tell all your neighbours.

  • Just message Amazon don't be a psycho

  • Get some little manner of revenge, but dont get caught. :)

I had a new neighbour (just moved in that week and hadn't met them yet) get my delivery of uno cards and they didn't bring them 2 doors down. My solution called Amazon got them redelivered and now I will refer to them as the thieves for the rest of my days.

  • Just mark it as not received, and you'll get another one sent out.

Now if that one winds up with the neighbour, you should probably just sell all your worldly possessions, move out bush and become a hermit.

  • Our parcels used to disappear from the front of our house. We get all our parcels sent to parcel locker or amazon locker - problem solved.

Your fault for not letting the delivery man know where you live
