How Do I Get Something Picked up from Bunnings in QLD and Delivered to WA Address??

There is a clearance drill set item at Hervey Bay Bunnings QLD that I have on hold, but I live in Perth. I don’t know anyone around that area.

I have asked the Bunnings store if they can send it direct to home address or to a local Bunnings, they say they can’t, they only send things locally. I even spoke to the friendly click and collect team, they say they can’t send it, and that also they believe it can’t be sent via airplane due to the lithium batteries in the cordless drill set (2 x 36V lithium 2.5Ah batteries)

I have tried a local courier company to see if they will pick it up and drop off at AusPost, they don’t do that type of work.

So yeah, I’m a little stuck, keen on this drill set, understand that shipping would cost money, but still worth the hassle, but just struggling with getting it sorted.

Any suggestions on how to achieve this??
Will the lithium batteries get stopped, or is it just a matter of signing a dangerous goods slip?

    Air Tasker?
Post in the Classifieds here on Ozb.

    • It’s an option, but then there is the question of trusting an individual, what’s to stop them picking it up after I pay for it over the phone and they just keep it?

Their reputation on Air Tasker will be hurt which will affect their ability to get future tasks/jobs.
        Classifieds is just blind trust.

How much of a discount is this drill anyway?

Airtasker as per 10% above and….

Just make sure the box is ticked that forces the article to go via road.

  • Pack and Send will pick up, pack and deliver items but they're certainly not cheap. The item would need to be paid for I believe so not sure if you can do that with Bunnings or you need to pay when you go in to collect it. If you can't pay over the phone etc then airtasker as suggested is probably you're only option.

  • These guys might be able to help.
I’ve used them once, getting a laptop from Perth to Townsville (in under 24 hours).

      from bunnings?

Go on a holiday in QLD

  • AirTasker, Uber, UberEats, DoorDash - they all begging for patronage ;)

    Get airtasker to do it.

Mind you, they’ll need to declare what it is and it will have to travel via road not via air.

How much of a discount are we talking here? Airtasker will probably be $40-50, shipping will probably be $30. If the drill is $100 off, it is probably not worth the effort in case it gets stopped for having batteries or the person can’t do it for some reason.

You would need about 240 guinea pigs. Train them to be sled dogs, then hitch them to a little cart with a seat on top and plenty of reins.

    • +1

Not going to work. You will get 80-90km max out of a guinea pig pulling a sled before it dies and it will take about 2 weeks.

It’s an idea, not saying a good one, but an idea….

they say they can’t, they only send things locally

hehe ask them to send to the next local bunnings towards your direction. Then call that bunnings and ask them to do the same. Keep doing this until it reaches the one near you :p

    • Ha, it may work its way down the coast and west a bit, but then it hits the void of the Nullarbor

  • Had a good experience with Zoom2u. From memory, local couriers will see your post and bid for the job.
