Good deal for newly released Bondi series I believe. 20% on website + extra 15% coupon.

From the website:

Crush your miles in cloud-like comfort. The Bondi 9 is pure bliss for your feet, delivering that unbeatable soft, cushioned feel for every step you take.

The Bondi 9 is HOKA's most cushioned classic shoe, designed for runners who want maximum plushness and support during long-distance runs, recovery days, or long hours on their feet. In version 9, the Bondi gets an exciting head-to-toe update that stays true to its legacy as one of the most cushioned and comfortable shoes on the market. Longtime fans should be pleased to know that the overall fit and net base were inspired by the Bondi 7.

Starting in the premium midsole, this edition is the first to get supercritical EVA foam that enhances shock absorption and offers a bouncier feel. With 2mm more stack height than before, this updated foam provides both softness and responsiveness with every step. In addition, HOKA's signature MetaRocker geometry creates a smooth and effortless gait by gently rocking forward as you run.

Next up, the upper has been redesigned with a structured knit that offers zonal breathability, as well as a 3D-molded heel collar that reduces heel slippage and enhances stability. Coupled with an Active Foot Frame to deeply cradle your foot, the improved step-in experience and plush interior ensure that your feet feel pampered and supported from the moment you put them on.

Lastly, durability is another key feature of the Bondi 9. The outsole is fortified with Durabrasion rubber in high-wear zones, extending the life of the shoe even through intense daily use. If you’re on your feet all day—whether as a healthcare worker, marathoner, or someone who values comfort—the HOKA Bondi 9 will be your new best friend.

What You’ll Love:

Increased stack and added premium foam
Elevated luxurious upper
Improved step-in feel

    Anyone else getting this?

Running shoe prices these days are becoming ridiculously expensive!
I can’t justify dropping close to $200 for a pair of everyday trainers let alone $300-$250 on a new pair not on sale 😬

    • +1

There are still budget runners, this shoe here is considered quite a premium shoe.

    • +1

Asics is where it's at nowadays if you want better value/performance ratio imo

      • Agreed! The novablast are $240 RRP and sometimes ShopBack have upsized cashback with asics which brings the price closer to $160-170 mark

      • I’d say if value is your primary consideration, Adidas or Puma is where it’s at, as they have big sales.

I got a pair of Adidas SL2 for like $120 late last year. And got a pair of Puma Velocity Nitro 3 for even less. Both really good shoes, maybe not quite Novablast 5 good but pretty close and half the price.

      • +1

Asics Gel-Lyte is quite comfortable, but Hoka shoes are something else.

Though, I would not pay that much anyway for the Hoka in this deal post.

    • can’t justify dropping close to $200 for a pair of everyday trainers

Especially when Hoka has a less than desirable reputation on durability — many reported Bondi 9 feels bottom out after 600-800km.

Then again, these seem to be Instagram shoes and I guess not everyone buying those as fault trainers.

Aldi cheapos hold 3 times longer then Hoka which I throw away after half year.

Humans don't need giant mashmallows clown shoes to run. We've evolved to run just fine with our feet. I had knee troubles for years running. Switched to minimalist shoes and after a few weeks of calf pain (building muscles I should have been using for my whole life but wasn't due to stupid padded shoes encouraging heel pounding) I was running pain and injury free.

I hate the Hoka brand for pushing us back to the 90s with stupidly over padded shoes.

    We're Born to Run.

    • +3

You make a valid point to strengthen your muscles and not rely on shoe foam.

Don’t know why you are getting downvoted.

      • +1

Because people are brainwashed into thinking they need shoes with giant padding. Started in the 80s with the nonesne Nike pump up shoes.

        • True. I see so many people wearing basketball shoes for walking.

They are so bad for walking.

      • +2

Because it's really a matter of preference and personal opinion.

      • -2

Don’t know why you are getting downvoted

Because barefoot running / Born to Run is a fad from 15 years ago and have died out when more common folks picking up running as recreational sport.

Homosapien might be born to run, but modern people that sit in front of desks everyday might be a different sub-specie whose feet are definitely not designed to be pouncing on 42km of pavement.

        • Because barefoot running / Born to Run is a fad from 15 years ago and have died out

Nike Frees remain popular all these years later.

when more common folks picking up running as recreational sport.

So people who don't know what they're doing.

feet are definitely not designed to be pouncing on 42km of pavement.

Which is why minimalist shoes have a small amount of padding to counter the fact that people now run on pavement instead of grass. But in typical human mindset, people think "bigger is better" when it comes to padding and you end up with clown shoes like Hoka.

          • +2

            @PainToad:

Nike Frees remain popular all these years later.

They remain "available" but go to your local run club — how many people are actually wearing those? Far less popular than Pegasus, Vomero, and people will rather pick up a Vaporfly for the race day?

So people who don't know what they're doing.

That's the main issue I have with barefoot runners. It's all fine if people want to train with minimal shoes, but their justification is that "other people don't know what they are doing". Don't they consider that the high stack foams that the shoe companies try to perfect over the years might not be a conspiracy, but can actually back them up with science and race result?

When was the last time a Nike Free or a Vivo barefoot made to the podium of a long distance event? If the shoe companies are all about making money, won't they flood the market with barefoot shoes if they give you better race day result, or help an average runner to cover longer distance with ease?

in typical human mindset, people think "bigger is better" when it comes to padding

Well, let those atypical continue to train only with barefoot shoes, whereas the "typical" can get their long slow distance in every weekend and still have functional feet afterwards.

Not saying one should not train with a barefoot shoes, but I just don't think a runner can train majority of the miles in one.

    • +1

I agree with your sentiment, but I don't think it's safe to run around in bare feet unfortunately.

Also, the pros run with shoes so… It's like any sport - everyone follows/imitates what the pros do. So I think it's a lost cause trying to convince people otherwise.

      • +2

I never said to run around without shoes. Minimalist shoes. I like the Nike Free range.

        • +1

What works for you doesn't mean it work for others. It's all down to individual preference. BTW I downvoted you :)

    • +6

Hokas make a huge difference for my arthritis. You don't have to wear them if you don't want to.

    • @PainToad I agree with you.in general but super cushioned shoes have a place imo. I wear them for long races (100km plus), they are also great for recovery runs.

Not something I'd wear for shorter runs or for casual purposes.

  • +2

Not sure what the appeal is with the look or feature of these.

Either I’m too sane/ frugal - or the price is excessive for a pair of running shoes.

    • -1

Not sure what the appeal is with the look or feature of these.

I mean have you seen Gen Z fashion. It's clear they spent their formative years lazing around on the couch during a pandemic.

      • -5

And who forced them indoors hmm?

        • +2

A virus. Not some conspiracy theory that I'm sure you're alluding to.

    • Great for very long runs and recovery runs. Personally, I wouldn't wear them for anything else.

    • Ya nowadays its probably Gen Z designing these stuff! Very comfortable but heavy otherwise.

    • Hoka shoes are very comfortable but they are overly expensive.

They turned up the Skechers memory foam comfort even more.

  • Great price!!! bought this recently at 250 with gift card and cashback, should have waited…
Anyway, I moved from Clifton8 to Bondi9. Never liked Bondi series but this generation is good.

  • Typical, ordered a pair yesterday for $230

    • pretty sure it was valid then too.

      • From Rebel

  • These aren't great shoes by any stretch lol

  • +1

I haven't been able to stack codes on site discounts for a year or two with Running Warehouse. The 15% code is accepted as a valid code, but the price doesn't discount. What am I doing wrong?

  • I've always been a ASICS gel nimbus guy, are these more comfortable than nimbus ?

    • +1

I have the gel nimbus, and I tried these on. It's on par or just slightly more comfier then the nimbus, but to me it's not as neutral as the nimbus, the arch felt too high for me (like a bump on the sole) but I reckon I could have gotten use to it.

    • Same. Trying to find alternatives. I've been rocking Nimbus' since like the version 9. Currently rocking the 25s which are great however they wear out pretty fast and the toe box tears easily.

  • How is the durability of Hoka for those who have worn them on runs for more than 1 year?

    • +1

I had Hoka Gaviota - while they were the most comfortable shoes I had - in 3 months there were holes on toes and on heel(which happened on cheap Aldi shoes after 1.5 years) and in half year - I had to throw them in a trash bin because sole was gone. I can not justify the price for them with such quality - if they were 20$ - no problem, but not 160$.

  • After wearing 225 grams skechers Razor+, cant think of wearing 310 grams. I wish they made cushiony shoes at around 250 grams or less. Even the 275grams Clifton 8 feels heavy. 225 grams feels so effortless.

    • Plenty of good shoes that are light.
Adidas evo sl (in and out of stock)
      Boston 12
      Brooks Hyperion 2
      New balance rebel v4
      New balance Balos
      Saucony endorphin speed 4
Also alphafly 3 could be daily as it is pretty stable.
I have all of these except still using speed 3 instead of speed 4.

      • Thanks for the list, I will look them up :)

      • alphafly 3s for daily, that makes me cry

  • +1

Is it just me or the running15 doesn’t work?!?

Edit: only works on certain shoes

  • What you'll love is ….$39 shoes.

  • How do these compare to the Clifton 9?

  • Thanks OP! - Iconic price matched - had some gift cards laying around for them

    • How did you price match? Call?

      • Just through the chat, if you go through it there’s an option for price matching. Took them ages to get back to me over email but when they did they had the code to apply and it took it down to the $195 price

  • Anyone know how these compare to the New Balance Rebel V4's?

    • Rebel v4 is much much lighter. Probably depends on the weight of the runner. Over 80kg rebel maybe too soft and bottom out..
Definitely rebel can handle faster better than the Bondi but Bondi is more comfortable and better for casual.

  • Dumb question, how are these for walking? Thinking of Hokas for traveling around Europe and doing alot of walking. Normally just wear my Nike Pegasus but they're on their last legs.

    • +1

If you want Hoka for walking and keeping feet dry in rain, check out the Hoka Kaha GTX or Anacapa GTX shoes.

      They're both Gore-Tex lined.

The RRP is expensive though :-/

    • +1

After a lot of research for walking shoes for Europe, I went with Hoka Challenger 7 which is good balance between comfort and also traction to walk long distances and even water resistance!
I was limited by wide feet otherwise I would've even looked at ons cloud as well

  • successfully got Rebel Sports online chat to price match these online for free delivery. final cost 195.45 with Rebel warranty
