Love to hear some opinions on this system. And also where to start when looking at solar - how big of a system do I actually need?

      • Solar quotes is good value for education but not great to fins installers in your area though. that you have to do.

        • +3

I find quotes from SolarQuotes are ridicules - Got three quotes $8000 - 10000 out of pocket… Only for Solar panels - not with a battery.. its like paying for 7 years of electricity bills at once. anyway found 3psolar for just 1200 out of pocket

          • @Kassa: i suspect solarquotes charges quite high fees to installers for being listed on their site.

          • @Kassa: I got one good quote from SolarQuotes (I wound up going with them as they beat anyone I found myself), but one of the other ones would not stop calling, texting and emailing me. Even after I told them I'd gone with someone else and they also called after it was installed to find out if I wanted someone to check if a good job was done, because they were the best.

Came from a couple of different numbers too. Even for getting a baseline for cost I wouldn't recommend it, because there's some crap dealers out there.

      • Thanks, that was incredibly helpful!

    • +5

They have to actually say what system it is first, they are keeping it a big secret

      • exactly

      • -3

Hi, the reason we have not listed system is because our solar consultant team has various option available which they can help you out with as per your requirement. So if you want you can fill out the details and have detailed discussion to understand what kind of combination you can go for.

        • +3

That sounds terrible, sounds like they are instructed to go heavy on the upsell.

          • @BargainMe: Well, our team likes to deliver to options which are more alligning to customer needs rather than just have them sell anything so that is why we suggest if you can fill out details, our team will have a discussion and help you out with plan available as per your requirement.

    • Well it actually depends upon what kind of monthly consumption you have, lets say for example if you a consumption of $150-$200 per month a 6.6kw system should be sufficient for you depending upon at what time you use heavy appliances. Nevertheless, you can speak with our solar consultant by filling out deals and they will give you a callback to understand your requirement better.

  • NSW sw Sydney, doesn't matter what configuration I choose it finds no offers.

  • Excuse my ignorance or lack of education, but would this power a 3 phase outlet if i wanted to put an EV charger in the garage?

    • +2

Not completely. 6.6kW is really 5kW usable in the best case scenario. Less, once you factor in fridge and other things. Even single phase 7kW will take all of it, and draw the rest from grid.

I considered getting 3 phase but ultimately couldn't find a scenario that justified it. It's not as fast as DC. From near empty, it's still overnight. It's for people who absolutely need to charge in 4-5 hours and not 8, but neither want to DC charge.

      • Thanks for that, im not that worried about speed of charge, maybe i will just go a normal system for overnight charging

    • it surely can all you require is the solar system with 3 phase meter and it would run perfectly, but you will need to check your monthly consumption in order to determine how much kwh of solar system you need.

  • +3

What kind of inverter offered and what panels are used? The deal is incomplete!

    • There are various option available with our solar consultants which all were not possible to list here, if you can please fill out the details and someone from our solar consultant team will give you a callback and explain all of the products which are available. Thank you.

  • +4

Manipulative OP. $3900 is not $2500. You can't say you're paying $2500 when you have to take a loan from the government

    • +1

But it’s $1100 if you take out the $1400 loan from the government. So it is $2500 if you choose not to take the loan option.

Unless your confusing it with the rebate?

    • +1

Hi, The $2500 is including the interest free loan if you are eligible for VIC Solar rebate.

      • -4

        LOAN

        • +1

          Did you read the post?

          Total Price: $3,900 (after STC)

          Solar Victoria Rebate: -$1,400

Interest-Free Loan (optional): $1,400 (if selected)

Price at Installation (after VIC interest free loan & VIC rebate): $1,100 ($1400 payable over 48 months)

It's $2,500 after rebate, $1,100 out of pocket on the day with a $1,400 loan.

          • -3

@freefall101: I read the headline and the description.
Most working families exceed the 210k threshold, so it's just $3900.
How can it be $2500 after $1400 Vic Rebate
But nsw with no rebate be $2781

            • +1

              @sunnyc:

Most working families exceed the 210k threshold, so it's just $3900.

lol, median household income is about $120k. Median income is $73k a year per person.

Two full time working parents earning average (which is higher than median) range would still be about $205k a year. The vast majority of households are eligible for this credit.

But shockingly, if you do earn too much then you're not eligible for a rebate. I figure someone on your salary should be able to figure that out pretty easily.

How can it be $2500 after $1400 Vic Rebate

Because it's $3,900 and if you're eligible for the rebate it's $2,500. I don't know how to make it any simpler for you.

But nsw with no rebate be $2781

Because STCs are more valuable in NSW than Victoria. Australia is divided into 4 STC zones depending on how much sunlight they get.

              • -1

@freefall101: Not that big of a difference in stc to be $1700 different on a 6.6kW system

                • -1

@sunnyc: I checked. its $300 difference. So how come before rebate $3900 after STC before rebate for Victoria and $2781 after STC in NSW.

                • +1

@sunnyc: True, probably a Victoria tax thrown on top because of the higher rebates as well.

    • +2

The actual price is $3900 after the STC,
In VIC there are 2 offer- 1-VIC Rebate-$1400 2- VIC Interest free loan-$1400
So, if you remove $2800 of VIC Rebate and Interest Free Loan your price becomes $1100
But we have written $2500 which includes $1400 Interest free loan. so out of pocket is still $2500, whereas you will get $1400 of VIC Rebate at the time of installation if you are eligible for it.

  • Isn't it like 75 80 percent of the houses have terracotta tiles? those large baked clay tiles is what they mean I am guessing. So you can't get the deal price then?!

    • +1

A lot have concrete tiles as well, but I don't know the numbers breakdown

    • +1

Yes, if you have terracotta tiles the solar installer might charge extra as they are delicate and require extra care when installing solar system.

    • +2

My installer asked me to pick up a couple of dozen spare tiles to have on the day, and they just replaced the couple they broke. Shouldn't be that hard to work around.

  • +2

This deal doesn't actually list what you're getting, or the brands included.

Kinda feels like just a generic advert.

    • -1

Hey Nalar, the reason we didn't list any single option is because there are various options available with our solar consultants which all were not possible to list here, if you can please fill out the details and someone from our solar consultant team will give you a callback and explain all of the products which are available. Thank you

      • +1

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelin… "Post when you have a bargain and not just for advertising purposes. Generic advertisements may be removed or may make it difficult for you to post, when you have something that really should be popular."

How about an example so people can compare product packages? If there's such a good deal here, then it should be easy to find an example package to show us.

      • +3

Why not just list the option that costs $3,900 then and explain that better panels/inverters are available?

People aren't stupid, they understand that better things cost more. If you stopped treating the like they're stupid they'd be better able to evaluate this deal for same/similar panels and inverter.

        This is ozbargain, not ozmarketing.

        • Hi FreeFall, we totally understand your concern but the reason we thought of not posting the product is because we have various products available in the same price range and it would have been over whelming for customers to go through all of the products, so instead we decided to give the price so that if customers are interested they can fill the form and our solar consultant would have discussion and suggest products as per their requirement. But we totally appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

          • @Manyo: Yeah "the customer is not smart enough to compare multiple options" isn't an answer.

Quite frankly OP's response leaves me doubting it's a deal at all.

  • QLD: Not available in Wakerley. Tested addresses in Wynnum and Carindale and no services were available of any type.

    • No worries, if you could share your details in personal message, I will have my team look up the available option and have them give you a call back. Thanks

  • +1

Put your specs upfront for easy comparison, otherwise this is just marketing.

    • -1

We have variety of specs available to list which would have been overwhelming for other customers, so that is why we decided to go only with price as if the customers are interested, they can fill out details and have conversation with solar consultant.

  • I think you should at least put a model name of the inverter and solar panels. In addition, some indication of compliance with AS 5033 (because in the past a lot of damage has occurred due to fires caused by DC isolators) would be nice. Right now, I am unsure what I am getting with this package.

  • +3

There might be an amazing deal, but without listing the specifics this isn’t a deal it’s just advertising.
For it to be a deal on OZ Bargain you need to list what you get for your $3,900 and it needs to be available. You can mention there are additional options for greater cost but you still need to start with an actual deal.

    • Yeah sort of like saying $3000 for a computer and not listing the parts.

  • +1

This is definitely marketing, it not like they can offer thousands of packages at this price, only a few brand at most, so not rocket science.
