Virgin codeshare with Singapore Airlines to London

I'm looking at flights to London from Melbourne (return) and want to choose flights that codeshare with Singapore airlines (stopping in Singapore etc) however, all Virgins flights seem to only codeshare with Qatar Airlines now, and stopping in Doha

I asked Virgin if they still codeshare with Singapore Airlines to London and they said yes, but couldn't answer me when i said all flights on their website to and from London are with Qatar, stopping in Doha

Anyone know if they have stopped this arrangement but haven't made an announcement? Or are they just favouring Qatar now?

Qatar Airways bought a share in Virgin, and as such they no longer offer codeshare on flights to Europe with Singapore Airlines.

Also Qatar Airways flights stop in Doha, not Dubai, but I'm guessing that was a mistake on your post :-)

Book directly with Singapore airlines if you want to take your intended route. 99% of the time, you will find that the prices are cheaper than what they are through the Virgin website (and you can add in your virgin frequent flyer detail when you make the booking).

Same goes for Qatar if you choose this option, it will be cheaper to book through the Qatar website than with Virgin. This is not supposed to be the case, but it is. There was an article floating around not so long ago highlighting this exact thing too - couldn't find it with a quick google search though.

  • It's a codeshare and Qatar doesn't go through Dubai, its Doha.
To Europe and you want to get VA points and status credits, then you need to book a VA flight number which will be using Qatar via DOH.

  • Correction, yes i meant Doha* not Dubai. Thanks

Purpose of wanting to book through Virgin and be on the Singapore Airline co-share was for cashback purposes (cashback only on base fare) and Doha has higher taxes = less cashback

    Thanks for the info!

    • *codeshare, all that is, is a flight number arrangement.

  • If you are flying business class you'll find Qatar a lot better than Singapore.

Virgin only codeshares on South asian services now.

If you wish to fly SQ to London - you'll need to book on SQ directly.
Cross check the fare class to ensure you get some miles on Velocity.
