Don't wait till you see the whites of their eyes…
Don't kid yourself it will be over by Christmas…
Don't try to shut out the screams…
And don't forget to wash your hands afterwards…

From a queue of some 360 "eager" conscripts waiting to go to war, a team of up to six will "volunteer" for each new mission. Encourage your soldiers to shoot anything that moves, throw grenades, fire bazookas, drive tanks, fly choppers, split up and do their own thing… and die… Guide your no-hoper's troop straight through deadly missions. And if you lose some of them? There's more where that came from…

FEATURES:

Easy interface means non-stop carnage
360 fresh-faced recruits anxiously awaiting your direct orders to shoot to kill, throw grenades, drive tanks, fly choppers, divide and conquer or run around in circles and take each other out with friendly fire
24 bullet spraying missions with 72 levels
All the great sound effects like jungle noises, booming explosions, distant copter rotors and some poor soldier's dying screams
Five types of enemies including M-16 carrying grunts, snipers, copter commandos, jeep engineers and artillery hot shots
Guide your motley crew over hill n' dale, through jungles, freezing cold wastelands and Africa-hot deserts, annihilating the enemy and blowing up buildings on the way
Use shameless flattery and brute force to work your way up the ranks from private to four-star general

      Core Memory unlocked

    • I remember I got quite attached to the little guys back on the Mega Drive - I did not like it when one was lost :'(

Did they get higher ranks as they completed missions?

      • Yes from memory they ranked up after several successful missions. Although I can't remember if it gave them a buff or anything at all.

Great game back in the day!

Edit: Having said that, I wonder how it’s not abandonware. I mean the copyright would’ve been set 35 years ago and edited by now. How they charge even $2 for this is strange.

GoG had it for an all time low in 2017 for AUD $1.54

    • Replying to myself here. I meant to say expired.

But the other thing I thought was, I guess GOG Make old games available and playable on modem hardware and Windows? So that’s a cost - the game itself yeah, not worth much. Unless people want to pay more.

  • Lock seeming this here. Personally, inalways preferred the amiga version, pc one felt a bit too fast. War has never been so much fun!

    • Did you ever play Firepower? That was cool on the Amiga, too.

  • I remember playing this game as a kid. Had no idea what was going on, not sure I ever got far in it.

Review in Amiga Power looks good. I'll have to check it out once I'm done with Mega-Lo-Mania.

Used to play on my Amiga A1200HD (85mb Hard Drive) great times!

  • I bought this Canon Fodder 2 and Alien Breed + Tower assault for around $6 a couple of nights ago. I could have used my Amiga emulator but for $6 to have them just work I was pretty happy. So much fun playing this again even if it's not as good technically. Just downloaded Open Fodder to give that a spin today
