Yep holding out for Epic to come through on this one.

Saw that it's already 50% off on Steam and with a lot of mixed / negative reviews, so might be sooner rather than later.

I've played a bit of it. It's actually quite good. Lot of the negative reviews come from those with anti-woke agenda, when most people don't give a shit either way.

The gameplay and combat is great but the writing is really mediocre, it feels very much like Mass Effect Andromeda to me where they went 2 steps forward with the combat but 3 steps backwards with the characters, story and writing.

          • @sleepyowl: They couldn't have made that femshep from Mass Effect Andromeda more goofy looking if they tried, then in all the dramatic cutscenes where someone tells her something deeply personal it cuts to her face and she's just got some silly grin on her face. I think they later patched some of the scenes to give her a better facial expression but how that made it through testing at all is wild.

It was a massive flop so perhaps most people do give a shit about poor writing and characters in a fantasy setting saying things like "so I'm non binary" at the dinner table.

And then having other characters do pushups as punishment for not using the correct pronouns. In a fantasy setting.

It's not anti woke agenda. It's anti shit writing.

@Subere: There was a massive anti-woke agenda pushing this at end of day as that's what a lot of discussion focussed on. The story is not great but saying there wasn't some anti-trans/non-binary folk push is wrong.

As for your other points, it's a fantasy setting. It could literally be anything so it's hard to call out non-binary and pushups as punishment as issues. Not sure how that's different to incest and rape in Game of Thrones for example, or for bears/druids having sex with humans in Baldur's Gate 3. That suggests you have some sort of point to make that those things don't belong in a fantasy setting for whatever reason.

@DingoBilly: It's anti crap not anti woke. When game Devs finally realise that we'll end up with good games again. Ubisoft are about to work it out finally.

            • @DingoBilly: Mate, what the majority of us (95% of the planet) are trying to tell you is we don't give a SH about your sects agenda ❤️

          • @Subere: I'm anti anti-everything, so this shit sits good with me.

It was free on PS+ and still nobody downloaded it goes to show the modern audience don't support the game even when it's free.

      • It was given away as a monthly PS+ title already on Playstation, could be possible for Epic to get it.

You better pull a barv for saying that

I thought this dragon age was the biggest flop in history. So sad for a game with such potential and great origins story.

    • +1

Concord was a much bigger flop

      https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2024/09/21/new-report…

Concord is the biggest budget game Sony has ever released, the biggest loss they’ve ever taken. There are other games being worked on at Sony that cost more than this, but in terms of what’s already out, this is the largest. It’s a total loss.

      • Dragon Age, Concord, Dustborn, AC Shadows.
One day these "big" publishers will learn and remember who their audience is and how they got so big in the first place.
