Hi everyone,
I recently switched from Optus to Telstra, and the porting process went smoothly. However, I’ve run into an issue with Wi-Fi Calling on my iPhone. When I enable it, I’m unable to make or receive calls—outgoing calls fail with a "Call Failed" message, and incoming calls go straight to voicemail.
When I turn off Wi-Fi Calling, I can make and receive calls, but only if there's Telstra network coverage. Unfortunately, I live in a low-coverage area, so Wi-Fi Calling is important for me.
Troubleshooting I’ve Done So Far:
- Switched from eSIM to a physical SIM.
- Reset network settings.
- Contacted Telstra chat support—they advised me to visit a store. At the store, my phone worked fine on their Wi-Fi.
- Back home, the issue persists on my Opticomm (Exetel) network.
- Tested the Telstra SIM in another phone (Android), and the same issue occurred.
- Tested another provider’s SIM with Wi-Fi Calling on the Exetel network—it worked fine on both Apple and Android devices.
- It seems like Telstra’s Wi-Fi Calling doesn’t work specifically on the Exetel network. Has anyone else faced a similar issue, or does anyone know a solution?
Thanks in advance!
This makes me suspect that it could me your modem blocking Wifi Calling. I'd be looking into the settings of the modem and see if that makes any difference…
EDIT: I'm on Exetel Opticomm and Telstra WiFi calling is perfect using an Eero 6 router.
