Cashrewards Not Tracked (Youi)

Hi, recently started up a new insurance policy with Youi and took advantage of the $45 cash back from Cashrewards.
The purchase was tracked, pending for a long time then rejected.

I don't use an ad blocker, did everything correctly and still missed out.
I was wondering how common this is and did anyone else have the same problem.

There are quite a few reasons why transactions may be attributed to another channel other than Cashrewards. I've listed a few below that I find are the most common.

  1. Having opened other web pages (including search sites, social media, other store sites) or web browsers whilst visiting the store;
  2. Clicking though to another page from a banner or ad on the store's webpage whilst shopping;
  3. AdBlock/Antivirus/cleanup application tasks may remove tracking cookies (which are required to track transactions); or
  4. Use of a coupon code not listed on Cashrewards.

  • As the click was tracked, the first three items in the list do not apply. Did you use a coupon code, or selected another policy or cancelled your policy before it was approved?

    • No, there were no coupons.
      It was a brand-new policy for an additional 2nd hand car we purchased, so there was no cancellation etc.
      It's frustrating as it was a good amount to get back, can't do much if they refuse to pay.

      I think I will still with ShopBack & TopCashback as these have been pretty reliable before.

        • I have an existing car policy with Youi which is still current.
          This was for a new policy, as long as the policy is new it doesn't matter how many you have.

    Respond back saying you did none of the above, and ask them to submit a transaction inquiry with the store.

    May or may not work, but thats the next step Cashrewards took when I was inquiring after a transaction.

    Cashrewards and Shopback both have very spotty customer service now, you really have to keep chasing them.

  • The youi offer seems to have a raft of special terms that would allow youi to not pay cash rewards:

    Cashback is provided by Cashrewards and is eligible for each qualifying purchase of a new insurance policy via Youi's website, including new Car (Except CTP), Home, Motorcycle, Watercraft, Caravan & Trailer, and Small Business Insurance policies. You must return and click through Cashrewards for each new transaction to be eligible for cashback.

    To qualify for cashback, simply click the Cashrewards 'Shop Now' button and start a quote on Youi's website for a new eligible insurance policy. Follow Youi’s online steps and provide your phone number. A Youi customer service consultant may call you to finalise details of the policy. Transaction will only be approved for cashback if you obtain the quote and purchase the policy in the same session, and after the policy's cooling off period ends.

    Cashback is ineligible on the following:

    CTP policies
    Insurance policy renewals and roadside assistance purchases
    Insurance policies purchased via Youi's mobile app
    Purchase of gift cards or use of gift cards for full or partial payment.
    Purchases using coupon codes not listed on Cashrewards.
    Items that are cancelled, returned, exchanged or refunded.
    GST, other taxes or levies.
    Fraudulent transactions.
    Purchases using any type of discount which lowers price advertised on the Merchant site, including but not limited to employee discounts, student discounts and price-matching.

  • I suspect that this happens often as I was rejected for two different policies and 2 different times. It’s pure misrepresentation. I take screen shots after activation for all cash back transactions now.

    I was rejected by Cashrewards and they blamed Youi. So I put in a complaint to Youi and said I would approach the ombudsman, they paid for both policies.

    • Hi, I contacted Youi today, and they weren't very helpful.
      It came down to me contacting Cashrewards which I have already done, Cashrewards won't pay even though it was tracked and I provided a tax invoice.
