    COOLCABANA $198.40

    🍹🏖️🌴🏄

FYI for those interested, "grass kit" means a grass spike and 4 pegs. Not sure how they come up with $69 RRP for that..

  • shows up as $248 ?

edit: add to cart and it takes off another 20% to $198. Good deal

Went to the beach over the summer, everyone already has one of these. At this point coolcabana should just create a Pro Max model and cover the whole beach for everyone, save the individual set ups

    • +3

I wouldn’t mind a bigger cool cabana tbh , the standard large size is a bit small for 2 adults and two children

      • +5

Size is fine, but it does need a mesh attachment feature for a side wall.

        • Would be great but probably difficult to design given the four sides aren't anchored like a more standard gazebo/marquee.

          • @shbshb: Could just be a mesh with velcro, wrap the whole thing and shove it in the bag

            • @Calvin27: I reckon they would have done it by now if it was that easy tbh. Not sure velcro would be strong enough when it's windy.

        bit small

It's a public beach. You're not meant to have a massive area for your exclusive use. You're not camping.

        • thanks for the tip! :)

          cool cabana is 2.4 x 2.4

just for future reference, how much space do you ration out on the beach for a family 2 adults 2 children?

Sorry but you're absolutely being taken for a ride if you think the grass kit is worth anything, let alone $60. The fact they can't throw in a few cents worth of pegs into what is already an overpriced gazebo is astounding. Not saying there's anything wrong with the product but this upsell is hilarious.

  • +1

To add to the grassGate here. The separate grass kit they sell standalone is an upgraded version with a canvas bag and a hammer kit with upgraded pegs for $59. So this sad excuse for a bundled grass kit is definitely not worth RRP

We tried one of these, and went back to pop-up beach tents. These cabanas provide surprisingly little shade for the footprint and bulk.

The cabanas are open on all sides and high enough off the ground that the shaded area is often much smaller than the cabana itself. And as the day draws on, the shade keeps moving. At one point, our cabana was providing plenty of shade to the people next to us lying on their beach towels, and absolutely zero shade for us.

On the other hand, a pop-up beach tent is smaller to carry and provides more shade (given the roll-up windows can be shut on the side facing the sun). Even carrying two is easier than a single cabana, and provides more than twice the shaded area. Since we primarily want sun protection, the tents just seem to be a better fundamental design (even if they're not as on-trend).

If you're getting a cabana, it may be worth investigating a side-wall, so you can face that towards the sun and actually get some proper shade.

Yeah, but they're trendy on Instagram and that's all that matters, right?

    • We have a decently sized Kmart folding tent, not popup but nearly, the tubes fold down and it packs up like a cabana kind of. BUT it gets hot AF inside, not enough breeze comes in, and if it is breezy, the sides just flap in in you and it's shit.

What is your popup, how's the airflow?

We have two pop-ups. One is a K-Mart one we bought 20 years ago, so it's probably hard to find now. It's still going strong, and the windows can be covered or uncovered for airflow.

The other is this one: https://www.exploreplanetearth.com.au/shelters/sun-shelters/… … It does the job, but honestly doesn't feel as solid and chunky as the 20-year-old K-Mart version, but I guess that's the way it goes with modern build quality. It's handled some pretty strong winds without complaint, though, despite its lighter construction.

Both have the same pop-up design. Both have windows on all three sides that can be selectively covered. Both are comfortable, even on scorching days.

I can have both tents popped up and the sandbags filled in a few minutes, and with both up we can comfortably fit two adults and three kids, our bags, and room to spare, all safely out of the sun. The design is basic, but it really does the job.

    • The lack of option to attach a side wall is what brought me to buying a 2.4m gazebo instead.

  • might be worth noting cheaper if you buy 2 or 3 if you can group buy. $520.80 for 3 = $173.60 each

    • I bought the flower pattern for about $170 (large one) a while ago, they do do random discounts ever now and then.

  • Literally a $50 cabana.

  • do you need this if you don't go to the beaches ?

  • +1

I find these quite useless to be honest as they dont give a lot of shade from sun unless the sun is at its highest point

Epstein Island vibes with the stripey design…

I have yet to see another Alcoholics Anonymous Yellowglen yellow Coolcabana from the deal a couple of years ago when I've been to the beach. Admittedly I go about twice a year so the odds are slim…

Just adding my 2 cents to the whole debate - the problem isn't the product, it's the pricks who go and set them up right on the water's edge and don't give a stuff about other people on the beach. Whenever I use mine, it's usually with a couple of other families and we always set ours up as far back as we can. Oh no, we have to walk an extra 20 seconds to get to the water.
