Got a camels notification - still on the fence if I'm willing to switch over from instant coffee but it seems like a pretty popular model from previous posts.

Note that it is $30 more expensive than last year though.

Edit: updated the price in title, don't think it really matters but there you go

I’m not familiar with this machine, but you won’t look back once you get a decent grinder, and dial in your machine.

We’re short on space and using the Breville Bambino Plus and separate grinder. The Breville Infuser gets equally good reviews.

  • Anyone know how this compares with the bambino plus?

From what I’ve read the Infuser is equally good as the Bambino Plus, just with a bigger footprint. I also like the convenience of auto frother on the bambino, and I’m not sure if the infuser has that option.

      • no there is no auto frother on this, this is an older model than the bambino plus, I have one and i'm happy with it, does a good job with a good grind. ignore the pressure gauge on the front as you will never pour a good shot if you try and get it to hit

  • Good machine. First one last me 7 year, 4 coffees a day. Never an issue. Good size. Good quality feel good milk wand. Good.

It's a big jump from instant coffees to a manual espresso machine. You'll need to buy a decent quality grinder to go with it, along with a small electronic scale for proper dosing and a few other bits and bobs. It's a great rabbit hole to run down if you have the time (I just got myself the Breville Barista Pro and am loving it). If you're not ready to get too nerdy, a step up from instant would be a pod machine, or else a bigger jump would be a semi-auto machine like a De'Longhi Magnifica or similar. Whatever way you choose to go, you'll never regret binning the instant gear!

    • Instant is for degenerates, the use case for this is people who are tired of $7 coffees at their local cafe.

      • I am indeed an enormous degenerate - its just too convenient to pass up. A bit of vanilla extract and its beautiful.

  • This machine is pretty solid. Have it at work and it's been going on 3-4 years or so and pulling 20+ coffees per day

  • Oh geez, my Infuser just died a few months ago (after 12 years!) and was going to get a Bambino Plus to replace it. But this is a damn good price compared to the BP which is still sitting at $488 as the lowest for the last month on Amazon.

Do I wait and hope that the BP comes down to a price like this? Or just get my trusty Infuser back? I've got the space, was really only going for the BP for the fast heat up and maybe better water collector.

Also looks like there's a bonus from Breville included:

    i. x2 Free 250g Bags of Coffee Beans from beanz.com by Breville (direct from roaster)

    ii. Online Skills Training Course

  • Does it perform the same as the BES870 without the grinder?

    • My understanding is yes. As far as I can tell they are identical apart from the grinder.
