Quickest Way to Obtain Qantas Points

Hi

I am looking to generate a few hundred thousand points.

Happy to churn credit cards. However, I need to do this relatively quickly (I.e in the next 2-3 week)
Most credit cards require you to spend and then be eligible in 3months

Has anyone had experience with cards where they claim it’s “$6k spend over 3 months” but if you spend that within a month they pay out the points?

Or any other cards where bonus is paid on joining etc

Comments

  • Amex paid the bonus points on my last card with them as soon as I hit the minimum spend (within a week or so anyways and definitely before the end of the month).

What's the reason for the absolute rush?

    • Thanks.

Need to load up on points to be ready to book flights

      • Ok, what flights do you want to book? i.e. Where, when and class of travel?

To the US, early next year

          • @popcornready: Yeah ok, trying to get in on the opening window for first release seats then?

          • @popcornready: Are you Platinum One or Platinum?

          • @popcornready: good luck getting (multiple) classic reward seats to the USA…your better off being ready with cash when the flights come up for sale and being flexible to do a stop over in asia for 24hours and explore there (for example singapore, malaysia, tokyo, hong kong)

I fly with kids and my go to now is having a stop over holiday for 24hours and booking real early

Have you checked that there's actually Classic Reward Seat availability though? Have you checked what the taxes / fuel fines will be? Got Platinum status? If not, prepare to be disappointed, or at least be prepared to be flexible with your travel dates, and also consider alternative routing. And even then….. :/

EDIT: I see that you want to travel to the US, so perhaps there will be greater availability. After all, who in their right mind would want to go anywhere near the place now? :p

  • Purchase 150,000 from Qantas for $3,999, four purchases permitted within 12-months

Prefer to minimise cost and try and use credit cards

I wonder if I can get this card even though it’s classified as “business” https://www.americanexpress.com/en-au/credit-cards/qantas-bu…

little to no chance you will have it credited in the next few weeks. Also GL with availability. I would explore other options such is booking flights with cash

As a regular card churner, I can guarantee you have 0 chance of getting required points within 2 to 3 weeks. Buckleys.
Just buy the tickets with cash or your new card and use the points on another flight some time later. By buying the seats you can earn more points anyway just on the flight purchase.

why would anyone want to quickly accrue qantas points… they are getting close to worthless these days given the terrible availability of classic rewards…

Its cheaper to just book far in advance with another airline

I churn cards regularly and I now question whether qantas points are worth the effort and annual fee anymore. I am favoring velocity points these days

remember qantas gold and above get first hack at the qantas classic reward flights when they are released, then they get released to silver and below / no qff later on…..by that time they are usually all gone

  • Have you got family who could lend them to you to use shortly, and then repay them once you have cleared your CC bonuses or whatever?

Could you do a massive shop at Woolworths and convert them to Qantas Points?

    • +1

what a 1 million dollar woolies shop?

      • +1

That's just average weekly grocery bill these days.

If they want you to pay in Qantas points to stop department of immigration deporting you over an ATO debt it is a scam.
