No issue with the quality of Optus NBN, actually I was quite happy with it. I left just because it did not give me discounted price after 6 months. Will join in again when the similar promotion happens in the future.

  • NBN plan should be good to go with BYO modem. Any notice period to cancel, like 1 month?

    • +1

In my experience, it is not necessary, any reasonable time, like 1 week in advance should be OK.

      • i think depends on billing period. I assume you will change to other provide .

You just need to sign up to new provide 7days before( to be safe), then it will automatically cancel the old one. ?

but if you do it after the invocie been issued, you need to pay the invoice even you cancel it.

Cost for 780Mbps (HFC) at mine with BYO modem - $94 per month for first 6 months = $564.
    Less $150 cashback = $414 (or $69 per month)

    • big assumption is the $150 CB works…
    • +1

i am planing to join for 3 months only…

      94 for 3 months = 282 - SB150 = 132 (44 per month)

  • This or flybuys points offer ?

    • +2

2,000 FlyBuys = $10 off at Coles. Apparently "up to" 38,000 FBs, or $190 off your shopping.

Have to stay connected for 90 days.

  • Can we schedule the connection date ?

    • Dont think so, i cant see this option when i trying to sign up

      • I chat with Optus and they said they can do it via chat

        • To sign up via chat, or sign up first then the live chat can update the plan start date?

          • @SnoozeAndLose: Sign up first and then chat

            • @yht: I applied at 4:15 pm, but my internet got disconnected at 4:25.

Optus email at 5:00 PM said service is up and running

              • @SnoozeAndLose: thats really quick!!!? so your internet ok now?

                • +1

@CDG: Yes, Optus use automatic IP like AussieBB and Superloop

                  • @SnoozeAndLose: Do you need to enter your login details to your modem?

                    • @CDG: no, you need to set your router to Automatic IP instead of PPPoE

                      • @SnoozeAndLose: After an hr I am still waiting, but cashback got tracked

              • @SnoozeAndLose: Omg, their chat people lied

  • Can you sign up and have the start date post 20/03?

  • Cashback is eligible for New Customers on a completed sale (new services only) submitted online.

I dont have any current optus services but when signing up to new nbn service this morning i logged in using old optus login details.. would i still be considered a new customer and be eligible for cashback?

    • no idea, hope someone from shopback can clarify

      • My cashback tracked in less than 1 hour.

        Hopefully it pulls through.

  • anyone know does Optus NBN use CGNAT, is it free to opt-out to use dynamic IP, or I need paid for a static IP ?

  • Update: I just sign up Optus NBN, get SB $150 email and Optus migrate and activate the nbn within 30mins, there is no option to select when to activate the NBN, and you need to contact support to do that but not sure if SB still works if using support to sign up the service

it is using dynamic IP, no CGNAT
