Dam, this is a great price. I got this recently and have no regrets. Much better than my previous HP Inkjet All-in-One crap
Yeah, the goal for those HP inkjet is to sell you ink, they practically give away their printers for free.
It feels more like an expensive subscription model.
How expensive are its Toners?
According to the last time this came up as a deal, you can get cheap large generic toners for this printer.
Did the latest software upgrade stop that ???

The good thing with these Brother printers is that you can get generic toners (e.g. from ebay) that is much cheaper. I've been doing that for years and haven't run into any issues.
The latest update bricked that capability.

I haven't replaced the toner for over a year (not a heavy user) so wasn't aware.
Can't you just downgrade the firmware?
Just put he model number to ebay and you can see ho much is thr generic toners.
Some models are not cheap…
