adidas Adizero SL2 Running Shoes $126 ($106 New Customer) Delivered @ THE ICONIC

Highly-rated daily trainer for short to mid distances. I'm not much of an adidas guy but these have been really well rated and at this price amongst other comparable shoes they are good value. Hard to get something near the $100 mark at the moment that isn't trash and adidas know how to make some other trash. These are also a good option for non-plated shoes. I've seen a lot of people grab the adidas duramo's on here when on special and these can be likened to those with similar form and fit but with arguable better cushioning that is in their more expensive shoes.

  • Solid deal. Shoe runs half size small according to run repeat

    • Size Guide shows the same number for US and AU sizing (e.g. US/AU 10/10), although they're normally 1 number apart, (e.g. US/AU 11/10) so not sure what to order.

      • Oh I just went with the 'pick a size' drop down box. It has US sizing there.

      • +1

always good to refer to EU size for all shoes

  • Anyone know if The Iconic do a pro-rata refund if you use the code THEICONIC25/50/75? I want to place an order with 2 different sizes.

  • Anyone run 5-10k races in these? Have had my eye on the Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 10 for races - but the price tag of $270 is putting me off.

    • +1

Would love a sub $200 Takumi Sen.

When I tried it I couldn't figure out what size I was. I went a half size up and down and I couldn't make up my mind still.

      • +1

as far as I know these are not at that level of quality as takumis, but opinion rather than fact

        • Different shoes for different type of runs. Quality is the same.

Takumi Sen is thinner, flatter meant for speedy shorter distance runs <10km.

          SL2 is a daily trainer.

BTW If budget is tight just look for a Takumi Sen 9 or even 8, the design hasn't been changed too differently.

          • @hippo2s: When I looked at the Sl2 in the store I felt quality was slightly down, in that I could see glue residue stuck between the upper and foam.

            I'm sure still built well.

Assuming you can handle the speed…like <4:30min/km pace then Takumi Sen is worth it. I wouldn't do race in SL2 as it's a daily trainer.

  • Thanks heaps! I've been eyeing these for a while since SL1 had good reviews. Most of adizero range is pretty promising for running.

  • I was the waiting as well and these have significantly better reviews than SL1 addressing some cushioning issues. will see how they go!

  • If I'm size 8 US Nike Pegasus, should I go for 7.5 here?

    • I think up to 8.5 US from the comments online and here

      • Good point… My googling says to size up too…

Honestly Adidas are a weird brand for sizing.

        • +1

adidas are so odd and inconsistent between styles, I've ended up using 2 iconic accounts to utilise the discount and ordered my normal 10.5 and a US 11 but the size chart still says I should get an 11.5 when converting to JPN sizing…go figure!

          • @ozbugunter: Haha I knew I should have tried them on when I was at Rebel sports.

Alas, I think commonsense has prevailed and I'll give these a pass - even though it's a great deal.

I have a Puma Deviate Nitro 3 on the way and over the last 4 months have picked up the following:

Asics Nimbus 26, Puma Magnify 2, Puma Magnify 2 Tech and Puma Liberate Nitro 2

Although if a good deal on the Adidas Takumi Sen 10 and Puma Deviate Nitro 3 Elite come up I may fold again.

            • @Circly: How much do you run? That's many shoes in a short period of time.

              • @hippo2s: I only got the running bug mid last year, hence the enthusiasm to try different shoes.

Just prior the above haul I was running in the Pegasus 40 which started giving me knee pain.

So I got the Puma Magnify and Asics Nimbus for a bit more cushion.

Then felt like I wanted a spare Magnify so got that on another sale and then wanted something a bit faster so the Liberates came in.

Then I got curious about carbon shoes so got the Deviate Nitro lol.

In terms of mileage I don't do that much per week, Strava says I've run about 200km total since Jan 1, so I guess roughly 15-20km per week?

I want to increase that mileage as the year goes along for a fun run in September.

Overall outlay had been pretty low overall. Puma have great sales!

                Nimbus 26 - $180 @ Rebel
                Magnify 2 Tech - $115 @ Puma
                Magnify 2 - $106 @ Puma
                Liberate Nitro 2 - $107 @ Amazon Japan
                Deviate Nitro 3 - $132 @ Amazon Japan

            • @Circly: I'm loving my Puma Magnify 2 Tech from black friday. It became my daily for all kinds of runs. It has lost its bounce after 750km, but still a lot of life in it for recovery/easy run. Would buy again at $115

              • +1

@ChairmanMeow: Same! I also got it on the Black Friday sale. It was a steal at $115.

I bought the OG Magnify Nitro 2 for $106 in a sale a few weeks ago because I liked the Tech version so much.

I can confirm the 2 Tech is very slightly wider at the forefoot with a thinner and more breathable upper. Of course in winter the 2 Tech might feel more cold. Pros and cons.

Th OG felt less bouncy at the beginning, but luckily after 20km it softened up and felt more like the 2 Tech.

Overall, I'd say I'd pay a slight premium to get the 2 Tech again if possible. Both good shoes though!

          • @ozbugunter: Why wouldn't you use the same account but use THEICONIC50? $102 per pair.
