Yeah especially when you see they throttle your connection (In Japan and China anyway), not sure about other countries
Yep. The sim I'm after is easily cheaper on Klook.
anyone have a sim recommednation in china? bit worried the connection will be slow on some of these providers.
Any that use a HK sim should be good
Agree, just have to either worry about unlimited or unlimited but capped GB per 24hr
Parents have used the 3HK 365 day greater bay, and TravelKon's 180 day China esims with good results.
Wife has used two TravelKon unlimited esims and she says the connection is faster than what her parents use.
Would highly recommend 500ml as your vpn in case you use wi-fi there
Any physical sims?
Seems to be an option at the bottom of the page but links to esims.
Also, Moto G84 is not esim compatible.
But G85 is.
Wow China for 30days 30gb $69.30.
Wonder if it is a roaming sim and not really a china sim as China makes it pretty hard to get a domestic sim.
Roaming sims aren't firewalled though which is good.
The only issue with roaming sims is that data switching won't work for VoWifi/VoLTE but, for China, the ability to bypass the great firewall is worth it.
Can get 45Gb that lasts 365 days for ~$55-60 from 3HK. It's the Greater Bay pack… also covers Hong Kong and Macau which is great for border runs for anyone staying more than 30 days.
Word of warning buying from simsdirect as a previous buyer. Sells incorrect sims (i bought a 5g sim, but it was a 4g) and ignores all messages aftersales. Buyer beware. Not surprised they rebranded.
These prices don't seem all that competitive compared to Saily and Airalo
They use to a really good company but now too much since the change of name.
I've had good dealings with Simdirect in the past and that seemed to be the general consensus as they posted heaps of deals.
A cut-throat sector for sure.
Had only bought one esim from SimsDirect but it was at the time the cheapest I could find that automatically covered Japan and South Korea so as not to be troublesome for mum and dad. Worked great for their needs.
What is a new good place for travel sims now?
TravelKon always good for me
Agree. TravelKon products have always been reliable for me… not always the best value but always reliable.
When they post up their sales/deals on ozB, the value is good. It'd be hard to find better value
@MrBuu: Agree. I love good TravelKon sale.
Support from TravelKon also great. Had an esim not come through automatically once and they were able to sort that out over the whatsapp support channel in minutes. Just wish they could get a WeChat support channel since whatsapp is natively blocked in China (apparently getting a WeChat account for a business is troublesome for those outside of China).
Haven't used them yet but escapesim seem cheap and pretty well regarded
Why'd they change their name to Simify? Might as well have changed it to Isims they're that late on the trend.
Yikes. Way too expensive.
Horrible to deal with, went with them a couple of times and they just didn't care. Ended up switching to travelkon, have always been reliable.
Weren't these guys previously Simsdirect? How are these 'sales' still so expensive?
Looks like they are no longer selling physical sims anymore?
Ok, for all those saying these are expensive. What product is cheaper than this:?
I canβt find a better deal for 60 Days Unlimited (or 60GB) Europe / UK than Simify for $125.
For that sort of duration, I would get a 3-7 days eSim and source a local SIM over there.
I have made my point. What a PITA.
You end up needing 3 sims 3 days, 30 days and 30 days…..and it costs nearly the same!
A like example would be great?
Maya Europe eSim
40GB per 30 days, can auto renew each month. 2 x $55.79 works out cheaper than Simify.Personally, I would just buy a local SIM for a 60 days trip. These travel eSims are ideal for 1-4 weeks, beyond which they start becoming real expensive.
Edit: I used to purchase from both former Simsdirect and Travelkon. Their sales prices were neck-to-neck.This 'deal' is nothing like that.
Make sure you read the fine print for the unlimited esims… most have a cap on the amount of unthrottled data you can use per day. Afterwards, the connection can slow right down.
If you need true unlimited, TravelKon seems to be good for this. We've had good experiences last year and this year with their unlimited China esim… never used european one though so can't advise on experience for esims covering that region.
TravelKon is more than Simify!
And Maya is $14 cheaper and you need to buy 2 Sims of 40GB each…..Simify is 1 Sim and unlimited!
This puts paid to the comments that Simify are expensive…..they arent.
Yes, travelkon is more than simify and that's because they're not the same product… but my point was that simify (if the product is the same as the old Simsdirect ones) will throttle you after 1 or 2 Gb each day. TravelKon won't. If that is an issue then Simify's product is not fit for purpose. I will let you decide on that… my post was just to alert you to the throttling if that was an issue.
Don't me wrong, the Simsdirect/Simify esims have their place. I've bought a regional one for Dad last year as it was the cheapest and saved him dicking about with multiple esims when in Japan and Sth Korea and transiting in between. But Dad uses a fraction of 1Gb per day.
For my wife's last trip to China though, I wouldn't go with Simsdirect despite being about $80 cheaper. She uses a lot of data (over 100Gb all up for the entire 45-ish days she was there) and getting throttled to 128kbps after 1-2Gb each day wasn't viable. So a single travelkon unlimited esim for 60 days for ~$200 was the only way to go.
Is it me or still seems excy.
