Looking for a Good Long Lasting Proper Cashmere Zip Neck Jumper

I'm currently looking for a Zip Neck Jumper. Preferably a Cashmere one for Winter.

I'm a Software Engineer going to office 4 days per week, I usually wear Chinos and Polos. Recently bought 3 Polos on discount from Charles Tyrwhitt which I'm loving so much. Had never spend so much for clothes before, I was a bit hesitant, but feel no regret on this.

So, now looking for a jumper to wear for Winter. I'm ok with paying a reasonable amount for a good Cashmere jumper. Was looking for "Charles Tyrwhitt Cashmere Zip Neck Jumper" but it seems like it's a bit too much as the good colors are not discounted (249 USD) . This cashmere jumper has a perfect fit, gently tapering at the hips, which I really like. The one from Uniqlo has a looser fit and doesn’t taper in the same way, giving it a different style (feels bigger).

So, I'm looking for something similar to this maybe a cheaper price.

Do you guys have any recommendation to buy ?

When I was a little girl in Panama a rich American came to our town and he was wearing the softest, most beautiful sweater and I said what do you call this beautiful fabric? And he said… Cashmere

If you like it so much just buy it… what’s the point of looking around and buying something else you won’t be as happy with and wishing you just bought the one you wanted.

Spoil yourself and get something that flatters you and makes you feel good. The cut of the Uniqlo one is going to make it look cheap.
I'm sure it'll be on sale before winter.

  • Considered this ?

  • I’ve also admired this jumper. Please buy it and post a follow up saying it was a disappointment and you returned it!
Or more helpfully, i think they have a good returns policy, so if it isn’t as good as you hope, you won’t be stuck.

  • Several years ago I got some beautiful name brand cashmere jumpers from a second hand women’s clothing store. Do some Googling and see if there is anything similar for men in your area.

      Messina hembry online.

  • Google holes in wool clothing.

I've got a lot of quality merino wool clothing (base layers, jackets, jumpers, zip necks, coats) - you can blame past Icebreaker sales, but also from DJS, and other places. They get holes in them over time - no one knows the exact cause, but it happens, so just bear that in mind before you drop $250USD on a jumper. Even my most expensive beautiful coats were nowhere near your budget, even though the RRP was much more. (The thicker items don't have holes even after over a decade, so could be due to stretching, rather than moths)

The sad thing is it could take a few years or a few months.

This CT merino one looks much better and worth testing the waters with first (maybe for a year). https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/au/merino-zip-neck-jumper---…

Also, if you've got a budget of $250USD, check out Icebreaker outlet stores, which are very limited nowadays.

    • They're from bugs eating the wool. You MUST store your woollen products over warmer weather in a bug proof way such as vacuum seal bags. Just leaving them in a cupboard is not enough. If they have been sitting out over any period of summer, freeze them for over a week first then seal them up for storage.
