Phone with Band28A only (No Band28b)

Hi Guys
I am looking to buy a phone from amazon which lists having Band28A only. Would this work with Amaysim/Optus? I emailed them but the replies were copy past with no info.

Thanks

You're going to find that phones sold in Australia with B28 are going to support B28A and B. Otherwise if the majority had B only there would be a lot not working on Optus and other networks. Are you looking at a particular phone?

What phone is it? Can you not buy it locally?

    • This particular model has bigger battery and some other features :https://www.mi.com/in/product/redmi-note-14-pro-plus-5g/?RNType=product&product_id=redmi-note-14-pro-plus-5g

Discussion here regarding what is Band 28a and 28b

Phones sold locally in Australia support both A and B. If you're importing grey stock phones make you sure you triple check that it actually works with our telcos (not blacklisted due to lack of emergency calling on VOLTE)

    • Thanks. I read that and the band compatibility is what I am trying to confirm.

Matching frequency bands will not guarantee operational compatibility since 3G shutdown. The Telecommunications (Emergency Call Service) Amendment Determination 2024 (No.1) directs telco to cease providing, or not provide, carriage services to an end-user’s mobile phone that is unable to access the emergency call services.

Here is what ALDI suggests. How to check if a phone is compatible after 3G Shutdown.

    • Following new ACMA regulations, devices that cannot make emergency calls over 4G VoLTE were blocked from the network from 28 October 2024.
    • Visit your manufacturer's website or documentation to verify VoLTE (Voice over LTE) support, emergency calling over 4G, & compatible network bands.
    • Verify network band support: 700MHz (Band 28), 1800MHz (Band 3), 2100MHz (Band 1), 2600MHz (Band 7).
    • Configure emergency calling settings if required. Ensure the new device supports emergency calling over 4G.
