I’ll say it again, WHERE ARE THE CHINESE HYBRID PANEL VANS?!?!
I just want SOME Chinese competition to the PHEV Ford Transit Custom, especially when there hasn’t been any news on its arrival in Australia mid-2025.
Give me a high-roof LWB PHEV van, and I’m happy.

      • Still not a hybrid. If I wanted electric, I’d get an eDeliver 9, since that has LWB as default and a high roof as an option.
But please tell me if I missed anything regarding hybrids in that article.

    • I probably won't be buying another car until 2030, but I hope by then there will be some great vans and station wagons around.

    • Its not a pano but i had an LDV edeliver7 on loan for a week a few months back, if i was a courier it'd be a nice place to spend the day. Glove box was full of "sorry we missed you" cards from a previous loan LOL. Plenty of power, drove well etc..

  • +3

This is a pretty incredible car for the price. https://youtu.be/8FyVBdxmk_0?si=ToC9If5LslmQw2bD

    • +3

From the youtube video - It is half the price of model y in china whereas here Old Model Y is only 10k more.

      • +1

The point of the video isn’t just the outright conversion price. It’s all relative.

  • +1

Do we know if the slow speed sound of the Mr Whippy tune is configurable/able to be changed? The reviews I have read mention the sound, but don’t give any further details.

    • apparently this is being updated.

  • +2

    After watching the review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5KkfkxgScQ
Decided to wait for BYD Atto 3 MY25: https://www.drive.com.au/news/2025-byd-atto-3-revealed/

      interior still ugly

      • +1

there's some improvements interior in MY25
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5JEgyrEtsk

IMO exterior looks better than EX5
and BYD info system is better too
Atto 3 MY25 will include more sensors to support DiPilot 100 (intelligent driving assistant)
However, yet to confirm the ETA in Australia

        • the elastic nylon is still there on the rear doors, so tacky

          • +1

@itsme56: MY25 model changed the nylon color to black (instead of red) which makes it less noticeable
But yeah, agree its a bit useless design…

            • @littlesoldier: i genuinly love the look of the car from the outside and its specs, but when i opened the door it turned me right off. i was so dissapointed because i would have bought one.

              • @itsme56: my biggest complains for the MY24 (and earlier) Atto3 interior designs are the "sport car" chairs and the 5" driver display
in MY25 model has finally changed the driver seats, upgraded to 8.8" driver display, and also include heads-up display (HUD)

With the incoming recession, surely this will drop to 35K by the end of the year.

    • I reckon $32k Driveaway

    • Expect a commensurate poo in AUD… $40k by end of year

"It will be the biggest, greatest depression like no one has ever seen. It will be tremendous. The biggest ever. People tell me they've never seen anything like it. Elon, get over here."

  • Come to me such deals! Lol this is epic!

  • God these el cheapo electrics are ugly. Economical at least.

    • +10

For me they are way better looking than the legacy cars.

      • +1

yea, park a corolla or RAV4 cross next to it…

    • Ugly is being too harsh. It looks similar to current Mazdas. But yes, they do look a bit dated too.

    • I don't mind the incognito look, looks clean and low profile. It's inoffensive which is refreshing compared to all the lights and edges of the fancy 'new age' EVs.

  • But why is Car Play and Android Auto so far away. Grrr…

    • +3

I don't use any of them one my Atto 3, I just sideload any apps I want

  • +1

Very good price, any feedback on Geely? I cant keep up with all the brands now.

    • +5

They own Volvo and Polestar, both of which make pretty decent EVs.

  • +1
  • +1

I must be living under a rock with all these new EV car brands but never heard of this Geely 😅

    • +9

Headquartered in Hangzhou, Geely Holding owns and manages a number of brands: Geely Auto, Lynk & Co, ZEEKR, Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Farizon, and Cao Cao Mobility

    • +4

Geely sold 3.3million cars in 2024. That makes them the 4th biggest seller last year behind Toyota, VW and BYD.

      • wow and thats just EV sales ? (assuming they only sell EV cars)

        • Toyota waste of money. I saw 4 or 5 broken ones on the emergency lines on A1 yesterday.

          • @SYLTB: lol, a single anecdote doesn't say anything about a brand's reliability

regardless, simple probability: Toyotas are the most popular manufacturer in Australia. four is a tiny fraction of the Toyotas that were on the A1 yesterday

            • @beltdrive: And people run their Toyotas into the ground, with hundreds of thousands of kilometres on the clock.

        • +3

No that includes ICE and Hybrids. Geely are huge.

  • +4

I know that my case is minimal but after having a kid the #1 decision maker on what car we will buy next is whether it has air conditioner vents in the back or not.

It is always a huge pain in the ass to try and figure this out from car websites. They never mention it, nor show a photo of the interior from the right angle!

    • +1

It has them, in both model grades. :)

  • Looks like a generic mg

  • +1

Anyone got a link to the PDF of the spec sheet? Other than a few details on price builder, I want confirmation of what’s available in Aust model. Eg. Does it come with v2x, what’s the AC charging max speed, single phase or 3 phase? Any mobile cables included like the MG? What tyres ?

  • I have a white electric Geely in my living room. It's an airconditioner

  • I’d love to see the full spec sheet, but this seems like a great car for the price. Too bad it doesn’t look that good on the outside and the inside isn’t good for families with all that white, my kids will ruin the interior in a flash with marks and scuffs.

    • +1

      Get the black interior?

  • They've published their service pricing now:
    12 Months / 20,000km $171.00
    24 Months / 40,000km $303.00
    36 Months / 60,000km $ 171.00
    48 Months / 80,000km $671.00
    60 Months / 100,000km $171.00
    72 Months / 120,000km $303.00
    84 Months / 140,000km $262.00

    • +1

Further, the capped price pre-paid servicing plans are also live (scroll down to the bottom of the page):

Plan term* Price ($) Savings ($)
      3 Years $517.00 $128.00
      5 Years $1,190.00 $297.00
      7 Years $1,642.00 $410.00
      • that's not bad, 260 per year

    • +3

Ik we're hating on Tesla Rn, but they don't require nearly as much servicing, so why do all these brands still require such archaic annual servicing

      E.g. Tesla reqs:
Brake fluid health check every 4 years (replace if necessary)*.
Cabin air filter replacement every 2 years.
Clean and lubricate brake calipers every year or 12,500 miles (20,000 km) if in an area where roads are salted during winter.
Rotate tires every 6,250 miles (10,000 km) or if tread depth difference is 2/32 in (1.5 mm) or greater, whichever comes first.

And then brake pads can easily last for many years too

      • +3

"so why do all these brands still require such archaic annual servicing" That's what I want to know too and I've never been able to find an adequate answer apart from the usual "for safety reasons", check if screws havent come loose over the year or whatever. Though I don't buy that reasoning. If Teslas can go for years without maintenance, other EVs should be able to do the same.

      • +2

Living in a rural area, i had been seriously considering Tesla neivase they're not invested in grifting via the dealer model but the lack of Android Auto as an option and no V2L V2H/V2J moved it a lower down the list, then Musk's antics made the brand a little too toxic and no, that's not a vote for the CCP, his antics are however a consideration for me.

      • The increased service schedule and/or higher costs offset the cheap purchase price.

        • Even if you add 1k to the sticker price and call the 1st 4 years service free its still a better deal than most.

  • The Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package looks good LOL

  • +1

In other words they could charge a lower price but instead they'll give away free stuff at the start so they can charge the same price and pocket the profit while also not tanking eoples resale value. Meh. Geely are not aonown brand in Australia. They need to start with cheaper pricing and work their way up the totem pole.

    • +4

I’d argue they’re doing exactly that. How much cheaper would you want it, realistically?

      • $40k d/a. If they can offer all those incentives they can do that instead.

        • +1

Meh. It’s not a huge difference in the scheme of things. I feel like if it was $40k d/a you’d be saying will only buy at $38k?

  • +1

I'll stick to me Model X, thanks though

    • Yeah but would you buy a new Elon Musk car now that it's seen less like a Model X and more like a Model Swastika?

      • +1

Purchasing a vehicle should be based on one's needs, not the delusions of others.

        • +2

What if the delusions of others interfere with your life? like those keys to doors or just general poor behaviour towards a driver of a Tesla?

You can't live in your own bubble sometimes

          • @cloudy: Being a Tesla driver had its issues long before Musk made a gesture vaguely reminiscent of a certain salute. You'll find it's the case no matter what you drive - Jeep drivers are aggressive, range rover drivers entitled and selfish, BMW drivers don't use their indicators etc etc etc. If someone out there is stupid enough to base how they treat another person based on what they drive they're going to do it regardless of the vehicle. Just make the choice that's best for your needs.

            • @thatguyfromthatplace: His gesture was a heil Hitler salute, nothing less. I'm sure it was just done for trolling reasons, but it's what it is. He's the CEO of Tesla. People are going to have a long-term negative reaction to anything associated with him, and that's a consideration for me when buying a car.

              • @Morven: Pure derangement.

I think if you're the type of person who thinks Elon wants to erradicate the Jewish race along with other inferior minorities, I dont think a Tesla is for you. Maybe something with training wheels and a helmet.

  • Was going to wait for one of these because I thought they'd come out at around 40k but ended up picking up an xpower for 46k, glad I didn't wait.

    • How's the vibration treating you?

      • Doesn't have any

    • Nice! Would love to own one.

  • Hope this aggressive entry price and bundling from Geely drives a new round of discounting from BYD and the rest.

  • lol free wall charger still got to pay about 500 to 600 bucks to get a electrician to install it.

  • +1

    Bring over Li Auto L7

  • Does anyone know the servicing schedule and what’s done? I thought electric cars would have minimal servicing, if any. If I recall a mate of mine owns a Tesla Y and said he does not need to do any servicing?

    • There are still a lot of serviceable items in EV, not just the motor and batteries

      [took from above Tesla post]

Brake fluid health check every 4 years (replace if necessary)*. - 1/4 per year
Cabin air filter replacement every 2 years. -1/2 per year
Clean and lubricate brake calipers every year or 12,500 miles (20,000 km) if in an area where roads are salted during winter. - 1 per year
Rotate tires every 6,250 miles (10,000 km) or if tread depth difference is 2/32 in (1.5 mm) or greater, whichever comes first. - 1 per year

So even on the so called minimum Tesla servicing, you end up with 2.75 above items per year, so on average probably 200-300 per year. Geely might be cheaper if these items are included in the servicing schedual.

      • You don't need to do any of those things to keep your warranty with a Tesla.

Cabin filter replacement is a 3 minute job. It is a good idea to check your brakes, considering you may go 200k between brake pad/rotor replacement.

  • is another chinese player?

  • Geeky is doing better than BYD soon.

  • anyone know if the Premium Paint is metallic. surprised they didn't do a pearlescent white
