(SOLVED) Can Someone Please Help Understand What This Error Means on My Deco App?

I have a Deco mesh device at two places. The main device has this error in app. Data packets are sent/received ok. Secondary in living room and has no error. Can someone please help?

I have tried resolving it by restarting, disconnecting and reconnecting the Ethernet port, power supply but no luck.

I’m not very technical and unsure where to find the WAN port and how do I know what kind of cable is connected

“Abnormal WAN port speed. Please check your WAN port connection.
More details ->
Check your WAN port connection
1. Your Ethernet cable connected to the WAN port might not support Gigabit speeds. Please use the Ethernet cable provided or a CAT 5e/6/7/8 Ethernet cable.
2. Your Ethernet cable connected to the WAN port might not be connected properly. Please make sure it is plugged in.
3. The Ethernet port of the front-end modem might have a speed limit or might not support Gigabit.
Please consult your ISP for help.”

EDIT: Solved! Replaced the ethernet cable and the error went away. Bought this one https://amzn.asia/d/7yH4Aiu
Thanks everyone!

Is the 2nd one connected via cable? If so, its either a bad cable/wiring or worst case, port on the router.

Try a new cable/run back the main unit.

    • Apologies, second one is not connected by cable. I see the error is in the main device not secondary. I’ve updated my post.

I see the error is in the main device not secondary

Still the same as above, try replacing the cable from the NTD/Modem to the TPLink and see if the error goes away.

        • Sorry what’s NTD? I’ve an NBN box from where the Ethernet cable goes into the TP link deco main device.

      • If it's not connected via cable then I assume there is nothing plugged in the WAN port? Is it just telling you there is nothing plugged into the WAN port (which is fine unless your configuration needs a WAN connection - I have many routers in use without a WAN connection.

The WAN port is the one connected to your NBN modem. Basically, if you are signed up to gigabit NBN you might not get gigabit speeds due to the limitations of that cable.

  • You should be able to see the spec of your existing cable between your deco main device and the nbn box/modem. I think you need to replace with a CAT6 or newer cable.
