For the rest of this week, I’m shouting free medium combos for all emergency responders. Just rock up in uniform or flash your ID at the front counter, and your feed’s on me.
It’s a small way to say a massive thank you for everything you do.
I agree. I sometimes get free stuff just for being a park ranger, it’s pretty sweet.
I once received a free company tie when my employer reached a milestone. I don't even wear a tie. I don't even own a suit. FFS
Nice, just what you always wanted… Our management didn’t give us anything for milestones, but the local cafe sometimes gave us free coffee and a bakery used to give us a free donut or slice with coffee purchase but that stopped during covid.
Not many free meals for ozbers lately ;)
After a cyclone it is probably safe to assume many first responders went above and beyond "their job".
What pisses me off is deals like this.
Doctors, Bus Drivers, Day Care staff, Administrative Staff, Lecturers and Professors aren't heroes. They're doing a job. Some of those are highly paid for doing their job too. Even if they're not - that doesn't make them special.
What if it's rainy and/or windy while they do their job? Doesn't that make em special?

@tenpercent: I'm taking a huge leap of faith but assuming you have a clue what might make any job "special", that would depend on precisely what they were doing and why, would it not? Ooi /s what does your job entail?

A lot of first responders aren't paid, such as most SES and RFS volunteers.
Perspective is free. You should give it a burl sometime.

it annoys me how the term "first responders" has become entrenched here. It always used to be "emergency services".
Because the SES continue to assist and cleanup after the initial emergency is over.
So they're also second/third/fourth/etc responders?
I'm not a fan of arbitrarily adopting terms from America but it seems a more accurate and intuitive term to me.
The term "emergency response providers" includes Federal, State, and local governmental and nongovernmental emergency public safety, fire, law enforcement, public safety telecommunicators/dispatcher, emergency response, emergency medical services providers (including hospital emergency facilities), and related …

So I looked on Wendy's Australian web site.
There was nothing there called a "medium combo". So I still don't know.
Presumably you have to be a clairvoyant to know what a "medium combo" is.
I think it just means one of the mains (beef burger, chicken burger, tenders), fries and a drink.
I don't think you have to be very smart at all to understand that lol
