I have my own one already. It is an old 1TB Samsung PM961 which I purchased in 2017 for $550. It's in a $20 enclosure. So I already have the same thing, but I paid $570 for it. FML.

  • how reliable is this Orico brand?

    • Their enclosures are fine. But they don't make their own SSDs, so you will need to look for reviews which take it apart to find out what SSD is inside.

just noting here Kmart have SanDisk Portable SSD USB 3.2 Gen 2 SDSSDE30 - 1TB

    on special ATM @ $99

  • can it be open and use as a nvme box?

    • Likely not without breaking something. From the design it is probably a normal NVMe SSD with a bridge board, instead of a custom solution.

There are plenty of NVMe enclosures to choose from.
