I think the title is slightly misleading. Members only get a hot cross bun for $1. Non members signing up get the 6 pack. Appreciate its in the double asterisk note, but the headline makes it seem like members get the 6 pack

  • Anyone else get a notification about it taking 24 hours to setup new accounts?

    • Yeppers. I was able to log in to my new account on the app around 4 hours after I set it up. Doesn't show the hot X bun reward though.

  • I find Bakers Delight fascinating. They generally sit outside a Coles or a Woolworths where a good majority of their product costs 2-3 times less. And they throw out (or perhaps donate?) an ungodly amount of product at the end of the day.

Is it the freshness of the product that is the major draw?

Quality is better imo, but depends on the price difference

    • They don't want supermarket bread customers only those willing to shell out $$$

    • If you've had a warm, fresh loaf of bread from Bakers Delight, you'll know it's the perfect blend of crusty on the outside and warm, soft and plushy on the inside.

And if you bake at home then everything else loses by ten fold.
        Bread makers are awesome

What's the best flavour they make for my 6 pack - how ironic that sounds :)

Mocha! I tried one today, it was delicious!

Raspberry and white choc is pretty good.

Choc chip is good. Nicer and softer than I anticipated. Maybe that's in comparison to the dense supermarket ones.

And I saved the best 'til last - you can pick any 6! Well, at Warringal Mall I could. Might be store/staff dependent.

I very much enjoyed your comment, by the way :)

Bogus. Tried signing up three times. Each time the page timed out. When I attempted again, system says account already exists. When I then log in, the account page says “no current offers”.

Has anyone actually redeemed these free hot cross buns? Was in store today in Ringwood and told "oh yeah a bunch of people have come in trying to do that today but the QR code on their account doesn't show the offer so we've been telling them to come back in a few days…" Seems like a big marketing flop to me.

Sounds like you are feeling a bit hot and cross.

Yes, I redeemed it with no issues at all.

There isn't a specific reward qr code for this. Just a new account, either qr code on the app or give them the phone number assigned to your account. Spend at least 5 bucks then choose your 6 hot X buns. I got 3 raspberry and 3 choc chip!

Edit to my comment above - the reward is now showing up on the app.

I should've got 6 mocha hot X buns, they're delicious. The others are good.

Damn I didn’t know they were still doing the mocha ones. I got the raspberry white choc - average.

          • +1

@oatmatcha: Yeah I think the rasp & white choc are a bit doughy.
Turns out Warringal (3084) only have Mocha hot x 🐇 on weekends. Probably store dependent.
I've since returned to a very low carb/keto diet, so the delicious mocha buns will be but a fond memory for me!

Have you tried Aldi's Bakers Life Banoffee Hot Cross Buns? They're the bomb. Full of flavour, sweet banana, white and caramel milk chocolate chips. Clear winner for supermarket buns this year. I can happily recommend them now that I'm not concerned if they're sold out!

@JayParker: I'm in Sydney but I'll keep an eye out for the mocha ones the weekends - thanks! It wasn't on their website so I just assumed they didn't make them anymore.

I haven't tried the Aldi ones. Will give them a go! The Coles choc ones in the bakery stores are decent (relative to price) as long as the date on the 'baked on __' is from the same day. The thawed ones are awful.

Yes I overreacted. This is what happens when anything stands between me and baked goods.
