How is this as a baby monitor?

    • +4

There’s a picture of a baby in the features and benefits

    • Good buy

    • I use a tp-link indoor camera as a baby cam with a tablet PC in the bedroom, viewing it overnight. Works great. We really only care about the sound from it. Video a bit useless.

    • Does the trick. Need to buy a tripod or something to mount it

    • +1

we went with simple voice monitors for our kid and dont regret it. I dont remember missing the video feature even once.
Since his room is next to us we hardly even used them. Only when we had a babysitter or wanted to work in the garage/outside during his day nap.
We are all under CCTV every day in public, we didn't want to bring this "energy" to the kids bedroom.

      • +2

Mate to each their own but if they're young enough to need this form of supervision they ain't getting no energy.

You're keeping an eye on them not taking an x-ray.

        • each their own for sure.
but keep an eye on them for what?

          • +1

@ripprind: make sure they don't try to hang themselves with a blanket mostly

            • @frowny: Thank god I wasn't thinking about that.
You probably have to check every 3-4 minutes then?
Thats all it takes for brain damage from suffocation.

              • +1

@ripprind: can just leave it on with a screen and have a glance every now and then

been using this as a baby monitor for the last 9 months and its great, for its price point can't argue. it has crying detection.

    Does Solo IndoorCam support HomeBase?

No, HomeBase is not currently supported. Solo IndoorCam is a standalone product which connects to the user's home Wi-Fi network.

    FYI

  • Thanks OP 😀

  • I can see the Reolink E1 is on sale too as a competitor: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33053895630.html

I think Reolink has less vendor lock-in too. Can anyone confirm how it works? I haven't bought into a system yet and want to choose something future friendly

    • Unfortunately Sold out .. but thanks bought 1 from other seller..
I already have a Reolink external cameras and looks like we can add this camera feed to my existing NVR too..

  • Thank OP, bought 1 because of the apple homekit!

  • Don’t waste your money on this garbage. Micro USB, terrible HomeKit integration (1080p max and loses PT function), false detections every day even on the lowest sensitivity with no actual motion present. To top it all off, completely failed after 14 months, Eufy will not offer ANY assistance.

    Residential metro suburb address? weird.

    • Cries in WA?

      • SA

Edit: But for the record, I have cried in WA, such a beautiful state.

Is this the same model? $79 at JB-HiFi
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/eufy-security-2k-indoor-p…

I've had this camera for over a year and it's been flawless. A friend has had the same model for 2 years and no issues there.

    • Amazon won't ship to me, thanks for the heads up.

      • $78 at HN in case you want to price match

    • Yep, same model. I just picked up two from JB Hi-Fi because the eufy shop on Amazon wouldn't ship to me. Thanks!

Great buy, I bought one a couple of weeks ago to monitor our dog while away and it’s perfect.

  • It has a wider range of motion than the newer S350 (4K).

    • 2K: 360° horizontal, 96° vertical
    • S350: 360° horizontal, 75° vertical (45° upward, 30° downward)

Paid $103 from Amazon in 2021, works fine as an indoor camera.

But if you are thinking to point it outside through a window, it will be useless at night due to reflection. Not a fault of this camera, would imagine most camera would have the same optical challenge.

    • Set it to day time to resolve reflection (=

    • I've had one of these mounted outside under an eve for about a year, no issues. I did put some cello tape over the "exposed" areas of the camera to prevent moisture and bugs. No issues so far.

      • That's good to know.

I did temporarily put it outside to find out it was a possum running around doing the sh*t. Was quite impressed it was able to wake up and track, the possum was quick.

        • Damn possums.

Exposed areas = microSD card, USB port area, sync button, etc.

  • can stack with the targeted commbank yello - spend $50 get $5 cashback.thanks op :)

  • I had one of these for about 2 years and suddenly it disconnected and can't get it connected to the app any more. Tried all sorts of troubleshooting and I got it to reconnect once then it disconnected within 24hrs. Gave up and use the Tapo now

  • Isnt tapo c210 just as good and much cheaper?

    • We found the Tapo would frequently disconnect itself/go offline and we'd have to reset it to reconnect. We stopped using it due to this.

Never had any issues with this Eufy cam for over 3 years being used indoors, just purchased another one from this deal. We also use Eufy's doorbell and outdoor cams and no issues with those either.
