"Hey, appreciate the feedback! Unlike bigger brands, we manufacture our own jerky in-house at our local facility, giving us full control over quality and freshness—no third-party reliance.

While large brands can often undercut smaller Aussie businesses on price, we focus on premium, natural, and single-ingredient treats with strict quality control. Our pricing reflects the care, sourcing, and production standards we uphold.

That said, we always aim to provide great deals where we can, especially on bulk buys! If you’re looking to stock up, our bulk 1kg options offer better value per gram compared to smaller packs.

But by all means, buy whichever you find more affordable. Nice find, by the way, and thanks for the time and effort you put into that post. And hey, it doesn’t hurt to try—maybe our jerky is better than the ones big brands sell wholesale. 😉

Of the two AI checkers I use, this text was detected as ~30% AI written. Makes sense when you compare the language from a couple of weeks ago… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16259716/redir

Howzyadog is not a large brand, they have the most haphazard website and customer service mannerism (in a good way) I have seen in a long time, they just do good product at fair prices.

By the way, it does hurt to try when you lie to us about RRP and post a bad deal on a deals website.

        • -3

Hey, appreciate the skepticism! Just to clarify, we set our own RRPs based on our direct manufacturing costs—we’re not just reselling products like some other brands. We produce and control our own jerky in-house, which means our focus is on quality and freshness rather than mass production.

We know not every deal works for everyone, and we respect that. If you find a better price that suits you, that’s totally fair! But we stand by our pricing and the value we offer, especially in bulk buys, which give better value per gram.

Also, no AI here—just a small business trying to engage and improve where we can! 😉 Appreciate the feedback and the discussion.

I'm from another jerky company (for humans – we don't compete in this space, but we relate) that has no relationship to this bargain, but I wanted to add my 2c:

          1) I don't really understand people's criticism of using AI, within reason, unless the suggestion is that the information is incorrect or made up, but I can't see how that applies in this case.

          2) I move on to your greater point:
Your criticism with this 'bargain' is that it's a "not a bargain" because you can get a similar product elsewhere for cheaper.
Sometimes that proposition is valid where the product is "like-for-like", and maybe it is in this case (or maybe not).
To your credit, you don't seem to have downvoted the deal: I appreciate that, because in theory, your comparison may not be like-for-like.

For example, you can objectively criticise a bargain for "Moët" champagne if you can find the exact same product cheaper somewhere else, because there really is no room for subjectivity in the criticism: it is objectively true. But if you subjectively criticise the same bargain because you can get "Yellow Duck" brut for a fraction of the price, then that is a subjective opinion because some people prefer the "Moët" brand, and some people want champagne not brute, and these people may still consider it a bargain subjectively.

          Getting back to this 'bargain':
If you see Howzyadog Jerky as being the same, then subjectively you can point out the price difference like you have, because you can get "similar" jerky at Howzyadog for cheaper.

On the other hand, if it's possible that "Slobber Chops Dog Treats" offers some possible difference to "Howzyadog" in some aspect, such as ingredients, taste, quality, customer service, postage speed, etc, and then it's possible that others will consider this a 'bargain'.

I want to thank you again for not downvoting this bargain, because even though you didn't think it was a bargain, it is possible that someone else will.

          • @biltong2go: 1: because using AI is lazy and disingenuous. It shows a total disrespect for readers/customers that you care so little about putting in the time and effort to write something for them yourself and just leave it to a machine to do your work. AI is soulless.

2: Your definition of "like for like" is garbage at best. This is not "Moet" and there is nothing in the voting guidelines that states the item must be an identical item.

For example, you can objectively criticise a bargain for "Moët" champagne if you can find the exact same product cheaper somewhere else

Your example is bullshit based on you thinking that this is equivalent to someone buying "Moet" and is a joke at best.

People buy Moet for the name printed on the bottle. Same for other brands, Rolex, Apple, Samsung, Ferrari, etc. If the item brand IS what people are buying, then your example makes sense… But OP's example is NOT a "well recognised brand" in its own right. A better example would be, I can buy a bottle of "Slobber Chops sparkling grape extract" for $10 or a bottle of "General Tao's sparkling grape piss" for $5. People are NOT buying "Slobber Chops" based solely on the name, so General Tao's would be a suitable comparison.

            To your credit
I want to thank you again for not downvoting this bargain

This is so disrespectful. Like users of this site need a pat on the head and a biscuit when we vote how store owners and reps want us to do. "Oh who's a good boy for not downvoting… yes, you are… you're the good boy…" You are not the "voting/comment police"

because even though you didn't think it was a bargain

They provided proof with links that this was "not a bargain" with a similar product and this user is entitled to leave a negative vote.

Based on their information, I will be leaving a negative vote because it is literally cheaper elsewhere for a "similar product".

It's comments like yours that make the voting system so unbalanced. People dont want to leave a negative vote because they have to make a comment and this then opens them up to the wrath of users like yourself that feel the need to chastise and reward site members for how you think that they should vote.

I certainly wont be taking voting advice from a store that has a recent vote average of about 10.

it is possible that someone else will.

Then those users are free to leave an upvote if they consider this a deal.

If I was OP, I would be putting some distance between myself and you, as you are going to end up doing more brand damage on their behalf than what they have already done.

@biltong2go: It's dried meat scraps for dogs mate.

Keep the ridiculous RRP and "sale prices" to FB and Insta ads. It won't fly here.

I haven't neg voted any comments here either if that makes you sleep better at night.

  • Are these prices real? seems higher than what we buy at regular prices.

    • Yep, the prices are real! While some big brands can price lower due to wholesale volume, we manufacture our own jerky in-house instead of relying on third parties, which lets us focus on quality, freshness, and premium ingredients.

If you’re after the best value, our bulk 1kg options offer a much lower price per gram compared to smaller packs. But of course, always go with what works best for you! Appreciate you checking it out.

    Lmao those aren't clearance prices

This post is too similar to the last [CLEARANCE SALE] Slobber Chops Dog Treats – Up to 70% Off! which ended on the 28th (4 days ago) but now a lot of it has been reposted & ends 31st March.

This comes across as marketing spam, not really what OzB is meant for.

  • @realMichaelScott what percentage of the jerky is actually meat. I’ve been buying ziwi air dried beef and is 96% beef, mussels, I think I pay around $40 for a 500g bag

    • Hello J B S, Thank you for inquiring,
Our in-house jerky is made from 100% kangaroo meat—no fillers, grains, or unnecessary additives. The final product is purely air-dried kangaroo, meaning the only weight loss comes from moisture removal. If you're comparing to Ziwi, their 96% meat content includes beef, mussels, and organs, whereas ours is purely single-ingredient kangaroo. Let me know if you have any other questions!
