Discounted Amazon Japan Gift Cards

Konichiwa from Japan,
I'm currently on holidays in Japan until towards the end of the this month. I'm looking to purchase some items from Amazon Japan and was interested in knowing if anyone has previously bought Amazon Japan Gift Cards with a discount. After chatting to an Amazon Customer Representative, they charge Tax on the Gift Cards, as well as Tax on the purchased items. I asked about Tax Free options for International Tourists, but there is no way of being able to receive a Tax Refund, so the next best thing would be buying discounted Gift Cards. If you have reliable websites that you've used before, please reply to this subject.
TIA

  • they charge Tax on the Gift Cards

If the tax is greater than the discount, this is pointless… Just use your credit card.

I've purchased stuff from Amazon JP before, tax is included in the displayed price and yeh there's no options for tax refund. I have previously researched Amazon JP gift cards and while there are plenty of 3rd party sellers that have them (example), the cost is never cheaper than just buying directly from Amazon with a fee-free card, not to mention the increased risk of the cards not working etc. I could never find anything about gift card deals from local official resellers but I guess it's hard when I'm not Japanese.

Amazon JP reward points on purchases though which you can use to discount future purchases (Do multiple spaced out orders to take advantage of this if you have time). This is the equivalent of getting 1% cashback but sometimes there are promotions that give more points. This is was the only way I was able to get any discounts.

    • Thanks @wangasm, your experience in trying to find Amazon Japan Gift Cards is helpful, as is the tip about spacing out the purchases to take advantage of the % cashback (which I hadn't even considered). The interesting thing that I found out today, is the only to pay for Amazon Gift Cards in stores (such as Edion) is with cash. I was hoping to be able to use my Wise Account linked to Apple Pay (as I purchased ¥ when the exchange rate was a lot higher than currently would be if I use an fee-free card.
