Where to find cheap PlayStation 3 and games? Help!

Hi, I am wanting to buy my bf a ps3 but wondering where is the best place to buy it? And any suggestions for good games that he might like would be great. He hasn't had a console for a really long time, but liked starcraft and those sort of games on the PC.

    There is no console game which is anything like Starcraft. Increasingly console style games are now available on PC and it is easy to just connect a controller, but PC only games (Starcraft and similar) have never worked well on consoles.

    The sorts of games that work well on consoles are:

    • Sports (FIFA)
    • Racing (GT5 - Serious, Need For Speed - Not serious)
    • Fighting (Mortal Combat Vs DC)
    • 3rd person action* (Uncharted)

    I've included something that might be suitable for each in brackets.

    *This is a confusion category, but that is the best title I have.

    You could buy a second hand console from some of the game stores and ask for a selection of second hand games. That would probably be the cheapest and you would also get a short warranty with it. They would have to be cheap though because a new PS3 is only about $250.
