omg i wish i dont have tv… so cheap

      Do u need assistance!

    • Indeed. If I could get half what I paid for my 75' TCL would buy this so quick

      • +1

TCL learns from phone industry and wants people to upgrade their tvs every year lol

    • -7

Diminishing returns after a 65 in my opinion.

If we had 8k as the norm. Then sure.

But with 1080 still being the norm, the 85 uses heaps more power and presents blurry.

      • +2

        Haha wut

      • +3

In my opinion, no one should listen to this opinion.

        • Fair enough.

I have a projector for the 'big stuff''. Uses 1/3 the power. 4m wide

          65 TV for ..TV stuff.

At least this has local dimming.

People buying cheap ass edge lit TVs just because they are 85….well .

Edge lit doesn't make it all the way to the middle

  • Isn’t c755 better for 400 more from appliances central

    • +2

In my opinion, no. Not a huge increase in dimming zones, and only slightly brighter. Hence both being 7XX (2024) series as they're quite similar.

Also, looking at RRP and historical sales prices, at this this price the 755 should only cost about 200-300 more than the 745 Pro (and the 855 about 600 more).

So this is the better deal, for a TV that's almost as good.

      • +5

        Isn’t 755 mini led

        • +1

Yes. Hence slightly higher peak brightness, and more dimming zones. But with 1300 vs 1500 nits it's very similar. And both have several hundred dimming zones. So not a big difference. If you want a big difference you need to go down to 655 or up to 855.

        • +1

This is FALD (Direct-Lit). Effectively one below Mini LED as far as panel hierarchy goes. Black uniformity will be better on the Mini LED.

      • +2

Well with free shipping it is 300 more

  • Is it worth paying about 500 more for the 85 inch C755?

    • +3

No. Similar TV's. Price difference should be half that.

    • +1

That depends on how much you value black uniformity.

$689.99 @ Costco if there’s any local stock anywhere, might be worth checking for a quick bargain.

    • OOS unfortunately

    • +1

Not real. Before I posted this deal I saw that, but when you go to check out it said out of stock. And no number or chat to contact on weekend.

I've been monitoring Costco for TCL TV's since Nov and they're rarely in stock, especially when on a good sale… Just paper stock and paper deals.

And the lowest they've ever had this TV before is $1750. So I'm confident it was a price error (meant to be $1000 more than advertised).

    • $690 for an 85inch TV is actually nuts

    • Ridiculously good price. I would be very surprised if there's any stock in-store.

  • Guys, 75 C755 or this 85. Help, i already ordered the C755 but willing to go in early morning and modify my order. I have seen both side by side, couldn't tell the difference but I dont trust whatever magic the show rooms do. Advice please. PS, bought the 75C755 for 1434

    • If minimal difference go for size. Big difference bw 75 and 85 size wise

Why anyone would buy a TCL over a Hisense is beyond me.

    • LOL. You've got no idea, do you? They are both massive companies. They have over 10 billion in revenue and are among the top TV manufacturers globally. In Australia where 'Australian known' brands are valued compared to 'globally known' brands, I can understand ignorance comments such as yours. Any TV manufacturer will have budget TVs as well as high end ones. Comparing a budget end TCL with a high end Samsung is stupid (or vise versa). If you compare apple to apple and then apply required money to acquire, then you'll see both Hisense and TCL offers tremendous amount of value over 'australian known' brands such as Samung or Sony for similar quality products.

      • Not quite sure I understand your point, I wasn't comparing TCL to a Samsung or Sony (which are both over priced).
From a price perspective (and an apples for apples perspective), TCL and Hisense are similar, but from a quality perspective, Hisense blows TCL out of the water.

        • I made two points,
          1) TCL and Hisense both are massive companies
          2) Comparing two brands when their products themselves vary hugely in many different quality/ price aspects is pointless
(for example high end TCL will blow low end Hisense out of the water and vice versa, if you try to generalise that to brand vs brand simplification, especially when both brands are massive 10 billion revenue companies, that's just silly).

          • @npnp: Obviously purchasing a top end of one brand and the low end of another will yield wildly different results. I'm not sure why anyone would compare like that?

You can definitely compare a brand for brand for quality perceptions though.
Overall, I perceive Hisense as not only higher quality, but also better value for money.

But to simplify it, if you are considering spending $2,000 on a television, your $2,000 will get you a better quality Hisense TV than it will a TCL.

  • Pulled the trigger finally. Picking one this morning, will report back about the quality compared to the Samsung QLED I have now.
Just a quick question, does anyone know the difference between TCL C745 vs TCL C745 Pro (in this add). TCL website has two spec sheets which are almost identical except for different stands (which I don't care). But I read somewhere more local dimming points in the pro version. Any insights?

    • +1

Pro more than tripple the peak brightness from 450 nits to 1300. For reference the 755 has 1500 nits. Not sure about number of zones.

    • I did a further digging afterwards. C745 Pro is a massive step up from the regular C745 (peak brightness 450 to 1300, addition of subwoofer & better sound, significantly better energy efficiency - 3 stars vs 5 stars). In fact, the C745 Pro is almost the same as the C845 (the only changes are brightness 1300 vs 1500, mini LEDs 700 vs 800 hence TCL calls C845 formally mini LED and C745 Pro just QLED). Everything else is exactly the same between the two (including the stand, remote, energy rating, subwoofer etc.). I won't be surprised if the C745 Pro is just a rebadged C845s (download the spec sheets yourselves and compare). This makes this particular deal a lot better.

I bought this for $1749 from Costco on 10th Feb and thought it was a bargain. Now i am crying into my breakfast and will probably never recover.

In comparison to what you may have lost from your car buy or home buy decisions which in a hindsight could have been something much better, the $300 you lost from this TV deal is absolutely nothing mate. Enjoy your TV…

      • +1

I have no idea what you are talking about but ok

        • +1

I think they're dissing your house and car mate. Lol

  • +1

I've got to stop looking at stuff like this.
Bought an 85" C655 the week before Christmas from JB for $1382.
Can't complain about the quality so far but would absolutely have preferred to go with a C745 for an extra $113.

Got the TV today, set it up. Definitely better than my budget Samsung QLED 75" though admittedly not by a massive margin. Despite being an android user myself, I do like Samsung interface more so I will miss that until I get used to Google interface. Contrast and brightness are good (my living area is a well lit room with a few windows facing the TV). I'm hoping the TV will automatically reduce the brightness at night? Will see. Fast moving subjects are nice and smooth, colors are vibrant as well. Just reduced the contrast when you buy the TV as it was default set to 100 (I reduced that to 65). I was surprised by the subwoofer at the back and the sound it produced. If I didn't have a subwoofer setup already, I would have happily use that (not earth shattering base but pretty decent). SD or HD upscaling didn't seem that good though (not a massive issue as I won't be watching those often). Overall, I'm happy with the purchase especially for the price paid (my old Samsung 75" QLED was 3,000 a few years ago, this 85" TCL is bigger, better and less than half the price.)

  • TV arrived today and has been wall-mounted. Replaced a 6-y/o 75" Hisense 75R7.

Does anybody have any good calibration settings for this tv or a link for it? Cheers!
