It's trade quality. Check it in store. I commented and left a 2 star review on the ozito toolbox exactly highlighting your concern.
Cheers mate will suss it.
Price reasonable. Currently using some tactix large waterproof boxes with some random inserts that I’ve accumulated over the years… and honestly works fine for me just that it’s not stackable.
I guess buying the Ozito will less likely be stolen
The kid criminals in our neighbourhood don’t care what brand, sometimes they’ll break in just because they’ll be back out on the streets within 24 hours if caught anyway.
I've got the Ozito plus a few extra cases stacked, build quality is really good, the latches are really tight and take decent pressure to unclasp. Wonder if it's the difference between a new item and a display one that's fiddled with 80 times per day?
Probably- though I guess if I give it a few more months and check the display model again it might be a good indicator of lifetime since those latches woulda racked up like 69,420 open and close cycles lol
Interesting. Missed it all those time.
I have 2 sets of these and the "latches" broke/fall off after about a year or so and they don't sell replacement
Ive used mine almost everyday since Nov2023. Still not broken..I know the v1.0 had latch problem. Are U sure U have v2.0
. I supposed all system will have issues. Have U pestered AEG support directly, I've contacted them before and they do reply back.
Have had the v1 for 3 years, dragged up and down stairs on job-sites daily.
Haven't had a latch break, but the handle pins had all broken and it wouldn't stay extended.
Purchased the v2 about 6 months ago and the latches are definitely beefier, what part failed for them to fall off?
Are these good for camping?
For anyone looking into modular toolboxes such as the AEG, Dewalt ToughSystem, Milwaukee Packout, etc, have a look at the Redline brand at Tool Kit Depot. If you are a home DIY'er, I reckon they are the best value modular drawer toolboxes around.
@256 its hard to beat AEG for the 3 toolbox you get. adding the Cleartop organizer is a winner!
But yes, alternatively the Redline is a good contender. They have affordable toolbox drawers (3,2,1 options) nice. That would've been so useful (not having to remove all your tools just to get to the bottom tool you are after). But so limited in options here in Oz. In USA they are called Husky BuildOut if you are looking for reviews. Crazy cheaper in the US.Yesterday, as part of Trade Day, TKD had the Redline rolling box for $49 and the top organiser for $19. I bought the top organiser, 2 and 3 drawers, and the dolly.
So why didnt you post? i could've been a convert at those prices. Not so now.
I got there at 7pm. They closed at 8pm. There were no ads or promo. The product wasn't even on the TKD website. I only discovered the prices when I went into store and it was only in the morning that I discovered that TKD had the Redline brand and the 2 drawer and 3 drawer units would suit my tools.
@lomie: after calling a couple of stores explaining your find, they weren't aware of that sale and was told must be store specific. im in vic mentone also checked some other tdk in nsw
i still have the last gen, its not bad.. no issues
Value for money at this price
Unless you need a real heavy duty one with lots of customization.. Then you're better off going with a different brand
How do you find the clasps that keep the box closed? I tried the Ozito display model and could see that snapping in no time.
