No it's not for the standard combo.

      • seem to hover around the $290-$330 for standard kit lately , so not quiet an impulse buy for the std kit for me.

        • Correct. I'm just getting downvoted for being a true one on OzB

    Thanks OP!

$20 off for $200+ student discount on student bean makes it $276

  • How are these to use as adashcam? Any conveniences? Any thoughts Jo?

You can enable loop recording so it continuously records over the existing storage, however I wouldn't recommend it. It is better to buy a dedicated dashcam. Unless you use a hardwire USB-C kit or cigarette adapter, it has too much issues with general driving and quality of life.

Pros are the videos are incredible quality, however the cons of:
      - no crash detection
      - no quick way to tag videos/incident button
      - no timecodes (technically there are if you set the time - but it is only metadata and not displayed on the screen or written to the video)

You are better off picking up a cheaper dedicated dashcam - keep an eye out on the dashcam tags on ozbargain for a deal to come around.

      • Impressive…thanks

Loop recording on Osmo Actions is NOT the same as loop recording on dashcams. I use a OA3 on my bicycle and it doesn't work well on Loop recording (it stops recording and/pr overwrites things that you may want to keep) - I still have to manually intervene to.

A great camera but definitely NOT recommended as a car dashcam.

any reason why ppl keep trying (asking) to use action cameras as dash cams?
this question keeps coming up over and over… I don't get it

      • +1

Lack of common sense is the only reason I can think of.

      • Video quality is the key reason…

Not good under the Australian Sun. Gets way too hot. Get a proper dashcam.

  • Adventure Combo for $453 with price beat button.

  • Best way of mounting on a road bike?

    • Yes, there is a million GoPro mounts out there to choose from. Gets more complicated if you have aero CF bars though - then you need a stem mounted out-front mount - possibly a combined mount (under a GPS).

I got a SmallRig alloy cage - much easier to change batteries without having to remove the whole camera.

      • So it just uses a GoPro mount then?

        • +1

Yup, standard GoPro mount attaches to the supplied (magnetic) clip with Osmo Actions.

  • Damn would've got this if I already didn't have a GP 11

  • waiting for gopro deals. will there be something coming up soon

@jee Go Pro are so far behind the competition these days.

  • Any good deals on spare batteries? The wife left hers in her checked luggage and customs pinched them recently :(

    • +1

Wow, that sux. I'm assuming it's cause the battery should have been in carry on.

  • JB will price match.

    • JB even price matched the 256GB Sandisk Extreme pro for $39 (from centre.com pricing).

  • Apparently the new one is super good and the NV is so much better?

  • How it compare to the Go 3? Do I need another? I see people use these and action 5 (the new one) more on tiktok.

    • Think it compares to the Go 11 so should be a big improvement.

      • +1

@boxall The camera @bcYield is comparing to is the Go 3 Action pod camera, not the Go Pro.

bc: this action 4 will be the better camera, 4k, longer battery life, better sensor and more.. but you lose the versatility of the tiny go 3.

        • Sorry new to the action cam scene.

  • No stock for pick up. Has to be wait for dispatch from 24 March

    • Price match JB.
