How Much Should a 6.6kWh Solar System Cost in NSW?

Hi guys, I’m thinking to install a 6.6kWh solar system to my house (without battery).

I got few quotes, but the price varies dramatically. So just wondering what price range actually should this system cost? And any recommendations for solar companies?

Thanks.

I can't tell you exactly how much a 6.6kWh system would cost but I had a 10KW system (no battery) installed at my house in 2021 for like $7200ish. I used Solar Run (via their Hoxton Park location)

Ball park 1k per KWh. Expect in the vicinity of 6k.

  • General rule of thumb for solar, if it's being sold by an ex Australia cricket player, it's too cheap

If its being sold by an ex-cricketer you have picked the wrong supplier

use solarquotes to find reputable installers

I had mine installed about 5 years ago in the Bankstown area, right on the carport out the back of the house, 5.67KW worth of panels due to lack of space (I think Trina Honey?), tilt frames, Sunny Boy 5KW inverter, all for ~$4500 with Beyond Solar.

I could have went cheaper with some random guys on a van but wanted a company that would last 10 years down the road for ease of warranty.

  • I paid $2200 here in Vic

  • I know someone who got one recently with zip solar for $2.7k

Its like buying a burger….. You can get a cheap burger, you can get a fancy burger.

The price will come down to the quality of the ingredients etc.

  • NSW here, paid about $5k for a 6.6kw system a few years ago. The price can vary due to the panel brand/quality and inverter used.

  • Price of solar system is one thing, you will need to consider the Feed In Tariff (FIT) rates to decide whether to install the Syolar System, as the FIT has dropped dramatically, to the point that sooner or later we will have to pay the energy supplier to feed power in to the grid. However if you use a lot of power during the day then it may still be worth it.

  • Anywhere from $3k to $7k depending on the brand of inverter, panels and mounting system, the quality of the install and the likelihood the company will be around until the warranty expires.

Personally, I'd get a battery as well. My Payback is down to 6.5 years after 3 months of bills.

  • Does anyone have any recommendations for Melb? Quote I got from Empower was 6.6kw for $6.4k.
