PlayStation 5 Pro - Should I Upgrade?

I have a spare Slim digital PS5, should I upgrade now using the current EB trade deal or hold off for a better trade deal (Pro or Switch 2).

Worried the value of the digital PS5 will keep dropping

UPDATE: Thanks everyone, ended up selling the new digital PS5 on Marketplace for $470 cash.

    Yes

  • Do you have a decent 4K (or 8K) HDR display to make the most of the Pro? Then possibly if you want the best performance.

If you’re stuck on a tiny 1080p monitor from 10 years ago, then definitely not.

  • what is the eb trade deal?

    • $599 for Level 4 with trade-in of PS5 and 2 games. $622 for Level 3. $676 if not a member. $1,199 without trade-in.

    PlayStation 5 Pro - Should I Upgrade?

    Yes, PlayStation 6

  • Are there disc drives available for them anywhere yet?

Get the Switch 2 and the PS5 Pro. And get the PS6 when that comes out. Invite some mates over more often to play with you to help justify the expenses. And make me that mate.

  • Honestly from everything I've read the Pro is not really worth it unless you just have lots of cash lying around.

The difference in graphics and performance is minimal or non existent in most games. Some games look better but you have to have it pointed out as opposed to just being blown away.

For its price I wouldn't touch it unless you don't already own a PS5 and can afford a nice luxury present.

If it's spare just sell it.
Technology prices only go one way unfortunately

You say 'spare' as in… You don't play it? I.e. you won't play the pro? If so just sell it flat out.

If you have a good 4k TV 120hz maybe OLED or at least a higher end QLED or miniled, sure, PS5 pro could be worth it, or if there's particular games you REALLY want to run at fidelity AND 60+ hz vs picking between ugly 60fps or 30fps fidelity.

The fact you're asking, though, tells me you don't have a need for a pro and are just worried about slim digital losing value more than anything else. Probably means any games you do want to play/are playing you're satisfied with the current PS5 performance

  • Approximately 17% more performance was it not?. Subjective of course, depending on the game playing.
