I'm showing $5.41? Ah well, bought anyway.
    Thanks

    • Hmm, that's weird, it's showing $7.72 to me as well (before voucher)

I'm pretty sure it was $4.49 about 5 mins ago.

      Oh well, editing it now.

      • Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods & Kings (ANZ) - $5.41.

Is your account linked to an Australian address? I assume that's what 'ANZ' is referring to (Australia New Zealand). That, or they upped the price slightly. shrug, $2 more isn't a huge concern :-D

        • Ah, I must have accessed the page from the non Australian link.

Someone posted it on reddit earlier.

If you've played vanilla civ 5, but got a bit turned off it, definitely give this a go - its 1000% worth it.

  • They've changed the price.

I bought it a few minutes ago for $3.15 using the coupon.

    • Y u no post it?

      • i think he bought it using a proxy

      • I came here to post it and saw it was already up.
No proxy… they changed the price for Australian and NZ Buyers a few minutes after I bought it.

  • Thanks OP, been waiting for this one to go cheap.

  • Bought it on the Steam sale for $12… should have waited :(

I think as long as your IP is not from AU (use US VPN or Proxy etc), you can still get it for $3.15. Just tried a free US VPN and can get the $3.15 in the cart but the free VPN was too slow and I was not able to complete the checkout.

PS: Confirm got it for $3.15 using this free US VPN http://us.newfreevpn.com/. Use it at your own risk. Cheers.

  • How much for the full game?

    • +1

It was like $3.50 in Russia… $22.50 in Australia. That's for GotY.
EDIT: Your better off trading it for another game to get it for ~$6 or so.

  • By the way, they have good deals, but my payments are always rejected… it used to work, but not anymore… too bad :(

    • How are you paying, with PayPal or just with your credit card? I've never had a payment rejected paying with PayPal which is linked to my CC.

      • Like many others, I'm just getting the message "Your Payment Provider has not authorised your purchase. This may be because some banks (incorrectly) believe that Green Man Gaming is a gambling website. Please contact your bank to discuss your order. We are working with these banks to resolve this issue."
My Paypal is linked to different credit cards with 3 major banks and all seem to reject payment to GMG

        • it worked for me with paypal, on multiple times.

  • GUYS LISTEN UP, just click the "hot deals" section above and get the game from there and you will get the US price, no need for proxy.

    • For me, it just links back to the same ANZ product page. Obviously they didn't consider regional pricing before posting the promotional banners.

    • They appear to have fixed that. Now if you click the "buy" button on the Hot Deals page it takes you to a page that says:

      Error 404: Page Not Found
Damn it captain something's gone wrong

Sorry but the page you are looking for has not been found. Try checking the URL for errors, then hitting the refresh button on your browser.

  • Anyone else have problem buying things from them?

This is what I just posted on GMG forums. FYI. I was given the us$3.15 price.

I am an Australian customer who has purchased items in the past. I am currently on holidays in Malaysia right now and saw the deal for Civ V. I have tried purchasing this with my PayPal account, ANZ visa card and NAB visa cards but with no success.

I'm not sure if this is a problem with me having an Australian login account but being overseas so I'll try removing to my home pc in Australia to complete the purchase. This means a few more dollars for me now that AU IP addresses are tagged and there is a higher charge now (assuming it works).

I wonder if this is the reason why it has been failing? Probably not but some food for thought.

    Regards
    Daniel

Edit: I should mention that I was doing all of this with my iPad.

    • Just remoted to my PC in Australia and used my Paypal account which worked. I'm beginning to suspect that GMG has got some extra bit of code which tried to match the IP with the CC country of issue or possibly the home country the GMG account is based off.

Whatever the case, I ended up paying a slight premium for the game because of it. Not very much though. US$3.15 vs US$5.41.

  • When I pay by Paypal the order details do not show on the left side of the Paypal login screen…

  • Had a few problems on GMG worked for 20 or so purchases then all 3 of my bank accounts and PayPal became locked from purchase, turns out after multiple emails to and from support my address was slightly wrong and it was red flagging it on their system, fixed my address to exactly how it is written on my bank statement and no more problems :).

  • Its now $7.72 , price might be related to the number of people that buy it?

Edit: NVM coupon didn't apply properly before!

  • no doubt a good deal just saying i prefer civ 4. my 2 cents :p

  • Wish they had this for Mac version :(

    • Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure this works for both PC and Mac (on Steam).

      • Can confirm it works on Mac also. Activated fine through steam and dl the files

  • This was a very painful process. The purchasing system was very rigid. At first it was saying the bank would not accept payment, but it kept refreshing and eventually it allowed it. Setting up an account and waiting ages for the email to activate the account.

Having said that I paid $5 which was well worth the trouble!

  • Question. If I bought the original game off steam, and I buy this expansion from Greenmangaming, can I still play it?

Edit: Missed the bit about "steam required" in the OP. Games I bought from Greenmangaming in the past weren't steam.

When I bought last night there was no regional pricing showing for it, showing regular price as $29.95 and so I got it for $4.49 (no coupon required). I'd been waiting for it to come up on sale all weekend so I kept on refreshing the page as I wasn't sure what time. I click on the exact same link as I did last night and it's now showing the regional pricing rip-off. Will be a lot less likely to buy from GMG in the future.

As a sidenote, Civ franchise is currently flash sale on Steam. Most of them aren't the cheapest prices out there but I did just buy the GOTY upgrade for $5 to get the included DLC (I had vanilla only until I bought G&K last night as I've been waiting for sales).

Edit: There is also a good bundle on Amazon at the moment:
    http://www.amazon.com/2K-Strategy-Super-Pack-Download/dp/B00…

Civ V GOTY, Gods and Kings Expansion, Complete Civ IV, Stronghold Collection for $19.99 bundle

    • That's a great deal! thanks :)

  • I got Civ v GOTY gifted to me yesterday and I have no idea what it is! I plan to download it tomorrow and check it out, but should I grab 'Gods and Kings' while its at this cheap price?
Also, can anyone briefly explain the game? Is it like Age of Empires or Empire Earth?

    • What Civ V Game of the Year does have:

-All 4 Cradle of Civilization Map Packs
      -Civilization Pack: Babylon (Nebuchadnezzar II)
-Double Civilization and Scenario Pack: Spain and Inca
      -Civilization and Scenario Pack: Polynesia
-Civilization and Scenario Pack: Denmark - The Vikings
      -Explorer’s Map Pack
      -Official Digital Soundtrack

What the Game of the Year does not have:

      -Gods and Kings
-Wonders of the Ancient World Scenario Pack
      -Civilization and Scenario Pack: Korea

The game is a turn based strategy, so its fairly similar so age of empires, except you can only make one move per unit per turn. It's virtually the same (you have to compete with other players (AI or multiplayer) to win the game, except you can win in a variety of ways (ie, cultural and scientific victories). I fond the game to be quite fun, though I did get a bit tired with it after a while (after 40 hours or so).
It has a fair bit of replay value, since you can play as one of a dozen or so historical figures, on a great deal of maps (there's quite a few community made ones, too)

Edit: woops, didn't mean to reply to you, kamlem - I'm on my tablet.

        • Thanks for the replies guys! Is it easy to learn?

        • +1

There is a bit of a learning curve, but there are 'advisors' that give you tips in game. You can turn them off when you're more experienced.

  • Thankyou. Got it using vpn and credit from sleeping dogs :).

  • Love this game, love this deal!

  • Anyone now if the that coupon code be used more than once?

    • It can. It expires 9pm (AEST) 3rd Jan
