SD Card Recommendation for Dashcam

Hi everyone.

My Sandisk 64gb high endurance has failed after 8 years in my dashcam. Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement card ?

Was thinking of the following -

Samsung PRO Endurance 256GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 100MB/s Video Monitoring Memory Card with Adapter (MB-MJ256KA)

Not sure if its MLC based.

I have an older VIOFO A119 dashcam.

Any other cards I should be looking out for ?

    Samsung PRO Endurance are working well for me in VIOFO cameras.

    Samsung PRO Endurance is TLC

      I was thinking if it was better to get MLC but Im guessing theres some advances in TLC technology that may not matter anymore.

          Number of bits stored per cell of the flash memory

          TLC is triple level cell, MLC is multi level cell

        Yes that's right. MLC was regarded better reliability, but TLC memory and controllers have come a long way.

        If you get the same card, but increase the capacity, say 128GB, then it will last longer. However, a reason why the card failed could also be due to environmental.

      thanks I noticed that about Viofo. Samsung pro endurance marketing has 140,000 hours (16.38years) recording listed and sandisk max endurance has 120,000 hours (13.69 years) recording listed. makes more sense going with the sandisk for longer warranty 15 years vs 5 years. a little weird since Sandisk marketing says up to 13 years of recording for MAX.

    Everyone saying you need the endurance type but I been using the evo plus for 3 years so far. No issue. YMMV

      6th year for me. I do check it regularly for errors. But that is something everyone should do no matter the type of memory card.

    Im thinking of grabbing sandisk max endurance 256GB. 4 times bigger than my current dead 64gb sandisk high endurance and it has 15 years warranty.
    Samsung high endurance has 5 years warranty for 256GB model. I prefer larger cards. I think just going with the one with longest warranty is a good idea plus viofo recommend sandisk max endurance. so theres that.
