Igloo ICF40 Single Zone Fridge Freezer with Free Cover $299 (Club Price) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Anaconda

160

Hey Ozbargain!

Just purchased this a few days ago and it is a great fridge/freezer.

You need CLUB membership which is free.

Biggest draw card is it is a Dometic Compressor as opposed to cheaper compressors included in Rovin, Brass Monkey etc. It is also supposedly the cheaper arm of Dometic (eg Dometic now own Igloo).

The draw on this particular unit isnt too bad at all, and it is quick to cool. It replaces a Rovin 35L Fridge which served its purpose and for my use case it is alot easier to use given it turns on when power is sent to it, eg it can be controlled by a battery pack etc.

My loss if your gain, I paid $349 last week and it is now $299 possibly even less with Anaconda Gift Cards!

Includes the Free Cover but alot of stores dont actually have stock so you need to ensure you get it!

  • What is its height

    • 571 x 459 x 374 mm

      46cm!

  • How does this get charged in the car?

    • Cigarette lighter/adaptor

    • +1

Just to clarify, powered by 12v by cigarette port or battery box. Does not have a built in battery to hold charge or self power.

  • +3

Pretty wild how affordable this technology has become in the last decade or so.

    • +1

Yup, makes Engels a thing of boomer folklore

      • +1

Don't say that in the Facebook off-roading and camping pages, to the boomers if your fridge isn't an Engel, you're a filthy peasant with no brains and money.

It's nice dometic has a budget arm now, cause dometics are cool but God damn expensive as well for the cfx ones.

      • Only two different compressor manufacturers danfos/sepco and Engel. Mostly around other controls and skins. Personal a second-hand Engel would be better money spent. Less amps draw your battery. Do love the king's drawer fridge for the price though.

        • +1

You've got Chinese huayi compressors on cheaper brands and Engels uses a Japanese make for their compressors afaik.

Wouldn't fuss too much over what compressor is on what, as long as it has good warranty then it should be fine.

  • 50L Dune one same price - all the Dune ones seem to be on discount too

    • What compressor is in this?

      • Says 'Huayi compressor'

        • Same compressor as the kings.
A few guys who repairs fridges says in certain Facebook groups that the huayi compressor is the same as the secop ones, just under a different branding as they come out from same factory.

I got a kings with the huayi and it works well, a bit on the louder side and gets much hotter than my older waeco which I believe uses the secop

          • @atimuslol: I think the higher end kings still use secop.

I had a peek at my 15l kings console fridge. Has a wancool amv13fc compressor.

Little digging and found out wancool is made by waeco which is now owned by dometic.

One thing to be mindful that Dune ones are designed for operation up to 32°C ambient temperature, which may be limiting in hotter Australian climates. And you need to buy the 240V AC adaptor if needed.

      • dont know if the sale is still on , but i got mine from that recent deal and a 240AC adaptor is included for free.

      • And in the back of the car on a 30 degree day will be pushing 40degrees. Need to make sure these are well ventilated.

  • This one for 299 or the Kings Escape 40 for 269?

    • General consensus is avoid the escape fridges unless the case for them are for day trips hooked up to a small battery because they don't insulate well and apparently are much more cheaply made.

I was looking at escape before cause it was so cheap, ended up with a stayzkool instead

  • trying to get the power spec / watt but there's none even on their official site. can my fellow ozbargainer share some if you have bought it?

    • +1

On startup approx 28-30C it uses around 45W until it gets to temp. In cooler temperatures eg 23-25C it uses closer to 38W

      Hope that helps

FWIW it is more efficient than my old Rovin.

      • that looks nice and thanks heaps.
was thinking to get the 60L vs. the 40L now

  • What's the best discount on the gift card? Going to get one for camp
