Why Do DJ/Myer Only Sell Higher End Brand Instore and Not Online?

I went to their physical store in Melbourne CBD and found that they sell higher brand like Stone Island, Gucci, Off-white, Armani clothing etc, not sure about the woman section though. I found that its only clothing/apparel and not perfumes, you can still find high end perfume on their online store.

Does anyone know why?

buying high end products is all about the experience

u go in to store to get pampered, drinks, food, salepeople who think u are the bees knees

then you walk out in the oversized bag to show off to randoms around you

not to buy it online and get a delivery man to throw ur package on ur door step!

      Can I do this

u go in to store to get pampered, drinks, food, salepeople who think u are the bees knees

      and then not buy anything?
What are we talking here, lunch or just nibbles?

      • I went to David Jones at Christmas time once and they had people walking around offering free champagne and nibbles. You didn't need to buy anything.

I always check the men's sales rack at David Jones. The stuff really is generally high quality and the rack is small and the savings are steep on the random stuff they need to get rid of quick. And there's usually a gay guy serving the desk near the sales rack that goes "oooh, that's a bargain" when scanning them.

The high-end stores rent space off DJs/Myer. They may not choose to be part of the Omni channel

    • What is the Omni channel?

        What is the Omni channel?

It's what the retailers call their online offer.

IIRC Harvey Norman first used it because Gerry Harvey didn't understand the internet. I thought it was just a HVN thing but Shaver Shop use it too so I figure it must be what they all call it.. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm good at that.

    • Yeah I think youre right, I notice that Hugo Boss had their own staff and checkout

  • Could also be contractual arrangements with the suppliers.
