Club Lime 5 Weeks for free
$0 Access Card/Activation

Pretty decent if you're thinking of joining.
Usual T&Cs, no current members or reactivation.

Technically you can sign up today and cancel next week and it’ll be entirely free.
There’s a 4 week cancellation period. If you cancel after 5 weeks you’d be paying for four more weeks. Pretty decent deal.

Happy workout!

  • If I sign up then give my 4 weeks' notice at the end of week 1, do I get to attend for the rest of the 5 weeks? Can't seem to find T&C's specific to this deal.

EDIT: Here are the T&C's. They don't really address my questions, though.

The Eligible Individual who joins on 25th and 26th of February, agrees to pay the initial membership pro rata fee, plus a direct debit in advance upon signup as part of the Membership Terms and Conditions. The promotional credit will be applied once the pro-rata and direct debit in advance have been paid.

I talked to them on the phone an hour ago and they said it’s possible. 👍
Doesn’t line up with their ‘minimum pay of four weeks’ but she confirmed. Probably best to check your local club.

Chats on the phone without getting it in writing will lead to heartbreak, best treat the offer as

"10 weeks at half price but dont forget to cancel"

    • +1

Why would someone go through the pain for 5 weeks with intention to cancel? First few weeks are the most demanding

      • +1

Pre-emptive cancel in case I end up not liking it and don't want to pay for weeks I don't use it.

If I do like the gym and want to stay, then I'm sure they're more than happy to cancel my cancellation.

      • For a case like mine where I workout out at home 95% of the time. Occasionally I would like to train in a gym on really hot days in summer or for use of the equipment to mix up my training, and this would make it so I don't have to pay a casual fee every time I do that for the next 5 weeks. Summer is basically over though and I don't think I can be bothered with all the sign up crap.. Gyms are really unnecessary. I am fitter than the majority of people that go to gyms LOL. Seems like most people use them to socialize instead of prioritizing exercise.

I'm genuinely curious how this is a surprise to you LOL.

Yes if you invested in building a personalised home gym, you're probably on average more invested in working out than someone using a non-personalised communal space. Yes public gyms are unnecessary if you have everything at home lol.

          Wild…

          • -1

@pennypincher98: What's wild is your moronic assumptions that I've "built a gym" at home. I literally own some parrallettes, some gymnastic rings hung to a tree, a set of dumbells, bands, and minor stuff. No major equipment or "gym". Seriously stfu with your assumptions. I got my diploma in personal training 20 years ago lol. You ain't going to win this.

            • @Tythefly86: So personalised to you, as I said? It's okay no need to get insecure about your lack of gym, as long as it works for you.

A diploma in personal training 20 years ago is just a massive LOL but okay buddy I'll just let you have this one because your ego clearly can't take criticism, only dish it out to other people.

The hypocrisy is what's wild here when your initial rant was nothing but your assumptions.

I can happily share with you that doing direct debt on gym memberships, and expecting a $0 cancellation is not really possible in all cases.

I'd avoid all gyms personally that take ONLY DIRECT DEBT as payment

Gyms are almost always (not talking about this gym specifically but in general) wanting to stich clients quite a few $$ on their exit fees/ early leave notice/contract cancel etc. despite advetising no lock in contract etc BS.

I had a relative who passed away last year. The person managing the estate notified Anytime Fitness several times of the passing, and Anytime Fitness just continually came up with new requirements to cancel the membership of a dead person. In the meantime, they tried direct debiting and adding it as 'debt' until it reached the minimum amount to sell that debt to a debt collector. The debt collector dropped the debt as soon as they saw Anytime Fitness' disgusting tactics.

To avoid this, last time I signed up for a gym I negotiated a heavily discounted contract by paying 12 months up-front in cash. Partly for the discount, but mainly so I didn't screw up my credit score when it came time to renew, and they couldn't just keep direct debiting me.

  • 5 weeks is pretty good by their standards. They do a 6 week promo a couple of times per year, it seems. But they've almost always got a "limited time" offer going of at least 2 free weeks.

Our gym recently changed to a club lime and everyone left, it's nice to have a nearly empty gym to myself compared to before when you had to wait for every machine

    • What caused everyone to leave? A simple name change shouldn't have that result

      • It went from Derrimut Gym to Club Lime.

        • +1

          Wouldn't that be an improvement?

          • @Grannular: Derrimut gym is cheaper at $200 per year.

            • +1

@nightelves: i'd happily pay an extra 200 a year to not have to go to a derrimut

      • +1

They jacked the prices up and reduced the amount of classes

  • I could do with this right now - I wouldn't rule out an ongoing membership either.

Got to the final page and it's trying to charge me though. Bit cheeky.

But thanks op this could be really handy. I've gained a few over the silly season!

They are doing some shifty stuff with billing. I think I'm going to give this a miss. A 'free' trial but you have to pay for it. Classic gym membership runaround.

  • +2

Looks like your 5 weeks free is issued in the form of a credit (i.e. If you cancel straight away you won't get the first 5 weeks for free as you have already paid for them)

    Broken site.
I give it about 7 months

  • If I join then cancel, can I still keep access key?

    • access key is digital and on your phone. I'm assuming it disables once your term is up.

  • Revo Fitness all the way. Free 2 months on signing up.

Few years ago, my local gym (which I was a member) was bought out by Lime. Before the takeover, I told them to cancel my membership. All was fine for a few weeks and then I started getting debit requests from Lime.

Called them up and asked them wtf was going on.. said I was still a member and they were deducting for the membership. Took them 2 months to sort out their crap and refund me the money. And then they had the nerve to suggest if I wanted the refund in credit so I could use their gym or buy merchandise from them!

Called the local one. They said i just have to pay pro rate 2 weeks in advance and provide a 28 day notice to cancel during free weeks. They add an extra 5 weeks so total 7 weeks for the price of 2 weeks (approx $36)

Will be signing up on friday and cancelling a week later. Works out well because im gonna need a 24hr gym in march and will pause my crunch membership

  • Just a note, apparently there is a sneaky T&C with Club Lime and/or potentially other gyms.
If they quote you a special/discounted price per week, if you go on direct debit plan, they can the very next day upon signing up increase to however much they want.
I have been caught by this. (on sale I jumped on board at $14 per week then two months later started being charged $17.50 per week) Spoke to them and they said they can change the rate (with notice: email sent to all members) due to being on direct debit plan.
