Mounting My Palit Gamerock 5080 Vertically

Hi I was wondering if there were any tech genius's out there who could help me with mounting my GPU vertically as I'm not sure what Vertical mount is compatible with my case. I currently have my Gamerock 5080 mounted horizontally and was wondering what vertical mount/bracket that I would need in order to mount it vertically.

The Case My PC is in is the Antec CX500M ARGB MATX (White)
and Obviously as mentioned before I have the Gamerock 5080 GPU.

If there's any more information required in order to properly find out what Vertical mount fits with my case I am happy to provide them if asked.
Thank you in advance

Um, why? Your 4080Ti will run fine mounted where it is …

The gpu has underside RGB so it looks 10x better vertically

        RGB is for children.

and gaming pcs are meant for adults?

@mightydragongamer: Gaming is age-agnostic. Sacrificing performance of a $2000 graphics card for more RGB is for children.

    Couple of things:

    • if you really want to actually mount it vertically, you'll need a PCIe Riser (at least gen 4)
    • you probably don't want to mount it vertically, as that will press the fans up against the glass side panel in your case, likely reducing it's performance.
    • Yeah I'd advise against it also, but if you do, look for a gen5 riser cable. Or if you end up getting a gen4 one you'll have to set your PCIe bus speed in your bios to gen4 (not auto) as I've read that some people have issues there.

Kids these days… back in my day we mounted our 5080s horizontally, and we liked it.

And we fixed the GPU sag by jacking it up with the missing ROPs

You were lucky to have ROPs! We used string 'round our way!

  • Your case (the back) needs to support/allow the correct entry points for vertical ports fyi if you go down this path.

  • I don't think it is possible, due to most typical vertical GPU brackets require approx. 7 PCIE expansion slots (+ with no horizontal beams), I think your case has horizontal beams between PCIE slots and its only got 5 slots.

  • Well, to sum it up for you:
The cooler master universe vertical mount V3 supposedly work with most cases, I used one before it worked fine, but I did have to make a small modification to cut one of the pci slot guard on the case (Thermaltake view 380).
The PCIE riser cable that comes with the above is PCIE4x16, next to no performance impact check videos on YouTube.
Whilst the above mount would work fine for a lot of cases, the 500m on the other hand is a smaller case where you may find the card pushed very close to the side glass which would harm the heat distribution.

PS I would be mounting my GameRock on the Antec C3 stay tuned for updates.

  • As promised here is my 5080 GameRock build with Cooler Master universal vertical GPU mount:

    • Antec C3 case, no modification required whatsoever, I just installed the Cooler Master Vertical mount V3 after watching their YouTube installation video, which is very straightforward (make sure you watch the video will help you a lot).
