regarding item 1, the price is pretty average.

eg the 3A ones here are $7.90, with discounts for more bought but pretty much everyone has a 10w polycarb cheapy these days. Pretty much walk into any lighting shop and they'll very likely have something like this. At this price its a 3 year warranty too as opposed to the one here for 1 year warranty.

regarding item 2, its not bad.

  • Don't cheap out on lighting yall. Having nice lighting really transforms a place, its well worth the extra $10 to get something with 90+ CRI that is recessed

Recently got SAL Coolum Plus lights in our place, huge difference compared to standard flush mount glarey downlights

    • Thanks for that rec!
For reference, looks like you used the "S9068TC/WH"?

    • What’s the benefit of recessed ones? Do they actually have less glare?

Flush mount have good diffusion from what I’ve seen.

Its all down to preference, there's not really a right or wrong answer.

Speaking from an "aesthetic" sense, having more control over where the light is (tight beam angles) means you might need more units, but can have better control over how a room looks or feels.

Speaking from a "practical" sense, having a wider angle/diffuse LED means you can use fewer lights to "light up" a room.

That being said, diffuse lights can also be very appealing in a room, and tight beam angles are very practical too (such as for niches, kitchen benchs, paintings etc).

It kind of depends on the build and room layout (eg lounge chair and tv etc)

Cob downlight with recessed light source although has smaller beam coverage (so you may need more) - looks sick especially in new builds where you got a nice fresh ceiling and clean eye line view with no visible light source (as it’s so recessed)

      • In my experience yes way less glare. The light does spread more so you need more light overall, but far less glare.

        • I meant to say the light does spread less*

It's def not cheap at all. Just the normal price.

https://jdlighting.com.au/martec-vito-9w-tri-colour-led-down… 5.95 a pop and and you even call even to ask for a better JD deal if you are planning to get more.

Considering that’s from a proper lighting shop with retail outlet, that’s frankly a pretty tight price. I’d still recommend going for low glare cob type down lights instead though.

No bargain here plus $19.95 delivery kills it even if it was a good price.

Looks like a better deals as mentioned above, neg. This isn't OzFreeAdz.

Pack of 10 from amazon works out much cheaper

  • Opportunistic post here, seeing that we have some knowledgeable people interested in this thread.

7 years ago I had three downlights installed, which were tricoloured ones, and we can cycle through the colours by flicking the light switch on and off. Unlike these ones where we have to chose one of three colours before installing them on the ceiling.

I could back then only find one website selling those lights, but they would only sell them to electicians/tradies.

The lights continue to work well, and I would like to install them in the other parts of the house. Any chance someone might have a website/link?
