Esatto Heat Pump Dryer (EHPD80) Water Tank Light

Hi,

Just wondering for this ozb popular dryer, the manual states there's an icon that will light up when water tank is filled and operation will be paused.

Mine did not pause when tank is full, neither can I find the icon on the panel even at start up when all icons are lighted up.

Does anyone know where the icon is and whether it works for you?

Thanks.

  • What is even more confusing is to the top-right of the time on panel, that icon doesn't light up at start up - looking through it it's a wifi icon, the model doesn't have any wifi capability, any idea what that is?

  • Are you sure these things are for your model dryer? The manual and the panel are probably used across a number of models.

    • The manual specifically mentions for EHPD80 so I think it's correct (page 15 is where is mentions the light).

  • Also an option to just run some 10mm tube at the back of the machine to a drain instead of manually emptying.

    • Yeah to drain is better unfortunately I don't have one close by.

  • +1

My Esatto EHPD7 had a similar fault. The level sensor kept alarming thinking the tank was full, but there was never anything in it.
I put a request in to Appliances Online and they instructed me to clean the filters. When I sent photos that the filters were clean, they then referred my case to an external service agent, who then offered a free replacement on the whole unit. My dryer was only 19 months old at the time.

I coincidentally had a similar issue recently with my LG washing machine. Busted level sensor, but that was easy enough for me to replace myself after watching a couple of YouTube videos.

  • I assume this is your panel? https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/ak/1/1/1/4/1114adcbfab53…

If so, then the manual might be incorrent, if you look at the manual you linked to, page 18 and read the troubleshooting bit for

    "FUL"

Basically says FUL will be displayed on the screen when the container is full. Not an icon like Page 15. I can't see that icon in the display either. It might have been dropped when wifi was added and they haven't updated the manual correctly.

What happens when the container gets full?

On our Bosch, the container has to be full for a while as the pump needs to run for a period of time before it tosses up a full error.

There is no sensor in the tank, the unit assumes the tank is full if the pump runs for a long time. As the tank overflow goes back down bottom.

    • Thanks for sharing the image, yes it is my panel.
Good point on spotting the discrepancy, I don't see anywhere "FUL" could be displayed either, what is even more confusing is the wifi icon, the model doesn't have any wifi capability, that wifi icon doesn't light up regardlessly (neither on start up when all icons are lighted briefly).

What happens when the container gets full?

Nothing it keeps operating, though I wasn't sure how long it has been full for.

As the tank overflow goes back down bottom.

Do you mind elaborating a bit more on "goes back down bottom" - did you mean overflow from the bottom of the machine to the ground?

      Many thanks.

I don't see anywhere "FUL" could be displayed either,

FUL will be displayed on the main screen where the time is normally shown, using the 8:88 display, you can make the word FUL. Old school ;)

Nothing it keeps operating, though I wasn't sure how long it has been full for.

Then it might not be full yet. Give it a go and don't empty it till the light comes on.

Water won't flow onto the ground if that is what you are thinking.

When you dry clothes, water is collected from the drying into a reservoir at the bottom of the unit (gravity makes it easier for water to collect in the bottom), this has a float that runs a pump when it is near full and pumps the water up to the top tank.

If the top tank is full, the water goes back via an overflow tube down to the reservoir at the bottom.

Basically in an endless loop. As such, the reservoir never empties and the pump runs for a long period of time, this tells the machine the 'tank' is full if the water pump runs for a certain period of time and doesn't empty.

        • Thanks for the detailed explanation, much appreciated. I'll observe and report back.
TIL there's a reservoir at the bottom, shouldn't there be a way to manually empty the reservoir then? Otherwise leaving some liquid there forever sounds problematic especially when moving etc.

          • @Meovel:

Otherwise leaving some liquid there forever sounds problematic especially when moving etc.

Generally not an issue unless you tip it on its side while moving etc.

For some units like the Bosch you can put it into service mode and force the pump to run, which will get rid of most of the water but not all.

But we are talking small amounts of water, it is a tiny amount compared to the tank at the top.
