Fwiw, we tried these (Latte one), and thought they were pretty rank.

One of our regular cafes serves Allpress, so not against them as a brand (not my favourite, but it's fine). But wife tried one of these, and wanted to toss the rest!

    YMMV.

To clarify: we only tried the Latte version. Haven't tried the black.

  • I love these. Definitely YMMV and I think there might be a bit of solid residue in the cans which turns people off. I drink straight from the can and don't really care if there's a few flakey bits at the bottom - I love a cheap zero calorie black coffee can and picked up a bunch of these a while ago.

Wish I was closer to this - would be keen to grab a few slabs.

    • To be fair, I believe we only tried the milk ones. Perhaps the black coffee is better - sounds like that could be the case from the other comments!

      • It's much easier to screw up a milky coffee. It's much harder to screw up cold brew coffee.

I reckon that's the case - but then, why are they clearing out the black ones as well?!?

I reckon it's the residue thing. They probably pour into a glass and look super gross.

My guess is that milk version sold more, because people generally prefer milk drinks. And since the milk version is terrible (like…it's pretty revolting, honestly! lol), it's probably gotten a bad rep from people like myself that have only tried the Latte.

So even though the black might be ok, they probably didnt sell well, especially after people tried the Latte, and never bothered to give the brand another shot with the black version.

          That would be my guess.

If I see it on sale I'll give the black a try!

    • That’s what happens when you let Carlton and United Breweries make coffee cans

      • Oh wow I had no idea this was CUB!

        • Its Asahi so its CUB, I only knew cause they sell it on their eBay store for $55 a case so this is a good deal if you like it

These drinks are absolutely terrible. No idea how they ever made it to shelves. It's not even about having an acquired taste. They are objectively disgusting.

Agreed, thought my drink was off when I tried the latte one. Stuck with a slab of them now

      • And they've got weird extra ingredients as well.

If other brands like boss can make them with 3-5 why do these guys have like 3-4 extra things.

The black unsweetend ones are really not that bad. And at less than $1 each, relatively cost effective

I usually make my own YFWs and cold brew (redbrick rogue) but if I can find some at this price near me I'd deifnitely get a slab.

  • These are being marked down everywhere.
I tried one, don't think I finished the 4-pack. Horrible, the widespread markdowns make sense.
Which is weird, as Allpress is decent.

That said, <$1 per can is alright if you just need caffeine.

If you are in Melbourne, you can get these from cheaper by miles in Brunswick. Can buy them by the 4 pack for $4 if you don't want throw down for a slab. Just the black one I think. Didn't see the latte version.

  • FUIC or nothing

The 4 packs of Mocha have been on clearance for $3.50 at Coles for months and they still struggle to sell them. They're not that bad when chilled and shaken well but not amazing.

I feel like they screwed up the texture which only enhances the bad flavour.

I'll stick to Boss and Saigon Brew for my can fix.

    • Yep ive been buying them and adding to them by making a capp at home and pouring them together over ice, makes it a lot better tbh.

  • all press use to be good now its like woolies coffee lol

  • Yeah wollie /cole is overpriced for sugar, milk fat and coffee drinks.
