Find me good laptop deal, $700 budget

Hi Geeks,

I m looking for new laptop with following config:

Intel core i5 (3rd gen) or higher (or AMD A8) processor, 4 GB or higher RAM, 500 GB HDD + some SSD (For quick boot up), 15" screen and weight less than 2.2 kg.

Budget is around A$700. I m not fussy about brand but need good laptop with above config.

Thanks in advance…

After a relatively prolonged look, I'm doubting that you'll find the above specs at that pricepoint.
The problem is mainly the SSD cache you want… those are really only put in Ultrabooks to satisfy the ~6 second boot up requirement. Therefore, limiting yourself mainly to ultrabooks, you'll find that only the low end i3 models are around your price, with the i5's costing ~$200 more. It'll also be much more difficult to find a 15" ultrabook.

This and this were about the best I could find with an SSD cache and i5, staying as close to $700 as possible, FWIW.

If you're willing to give up the SSD cache (and maybe the weight), some of these seem reasonable:

You may also be able to remove the drive bay in some of them, to replace with an SSD. You'll have to research that yourself, but it would be worth it.

What do you plan on doing with the laptop, if you don't mind me asking? An i3 would suffice for most basic uses. And why only start looking now? You just missed pre-Christmas and Boxing Day sales, when you're most likely to get a good discount.

    • Thanks for detailed reply. i have lenovo ideapad y560 atm with 1st gen i5 and 4 gb ram. Hence need to upgrade. Also my basic use is surfing some gaming movies and music.

    • THANKS. this looks good..
