Thoughts on Purchasing The DJI Osmo Pocket 3?

I travel quite a lot and have a Sony A6700 already.

However, I do get lazy to bring out the camera to record videos and was wondering what's your thoughts on the DJI Osmo pocket 3. The video quality and stability I've seen looks pretty good and it looks like a camera I can just take out of my pocket or side bag easily to record spontaneously. I also feel a bit uncomfortable bringing out my camera all the time and feel like the Pocket 3 would be a lot better to record stuff without feeling like people are watching me.

  • Perfect for videos. Not so much for photos.

I hate the fact photos can only be shot in 1:1 or 16:9.

    • I also want to learn colour grading, does the osmo shoot in slog3?

      • Nope. D-Log M

        What phone do you have?

        • Samsung S22

          • @jake123: Might be worth it to put the funds to upgrading your phone for improved stills/video quality and grab a phone gimbal instead of the DJI.

            YMMV.

  • Camera aside, If you're lazy, neither one is a good choice. if you want to produce decent videos you will spend lots of time in post-editing.

  • It's the holy grail that everyone is searching for.

A pocketable camera that can shoot slog3 10bit 120fps 4k video, that also has 3 axis stabilisation, which can also take high quality photos that you can pixel peep. I am yet to find it.

My current lazy setup is the a6400 + pancake 20mm lens. And a GoPro on a mini gimbal. Both pocketable. But not perfect.

  • I love my Pocket 1 and will upgrade when I can find the 3 for the price I paid for the first version in 2019! (around $600)
Framing is hard on the small screen and while the form factor is amazing, I would prefer a pocket than can compete with phone cameras again.

  • Bought the Pocket 3 creator edition and took it everywhere on an overseas trip. Battery grip is a must-have, both for grip-ability and for all-day shooting.
