  • 3 piece saucepan set for $64 also.

    • Thanks. I’ve just added a search for other Scanpan deals to this post.

  • Purchased one set for our new induction cooktop. Thanks OP!

I regret having an induction cooktop and would easily go back to have a gas one. Hope you like it.

What do you not like about induction cooktops?

        • +6

I love the tech, but hate two things about mine - no physical knobs, and when the glass 'buttons' get wet they just turn off.

And the portion of the pan that gets hot is small; only where the magnet is does it get hot - you have to buy the most premium of models to get consistently wide magnets. Drives me up the wall.

I think if I just had real knobs, I'd be okay. I wish I'd bought a model with those. If I had the money, I'd buy one with at least one very large magnet for frying more than two pieces of steak at a time.

@ColPow11: Sorry to hear about your knob problem

I’m quite the opposite, I got a Bosch Induction about 10 years ago and love it to bits. Curious to hear what you don’t like about yours.

I love that I can melt chocolate, candle wax, sugar whatever direct in the pot, no double pot and water needed, it goes so low. And I know that level 7 is perfect for bacon, where as on gas it was always variable, one day it would be 1/2 turn, the next it was .623 of a turn kind of thing. It has 18 power levels per zone, which is more than adequate, I’ve never been in a situation where I didn’t have perfect control.

I have a random cheap cast iron camping plate thing which I put in the zone, and it is perfect for steak, halloumi, prawns you name it. The thing gets very hot, and does steak just as well as the Weber Family Q.

Having said that, I’m not impressed with the Scanpan Impact set - many came with warped bottoms, yeah they work fine, but they wobble a bit. The measuring lines are quite hard to see after a little while, but usable nonetheless.

        • Please share your cooktop's model number. Would like to see if it's still available or with uograde

          • @happy1923: Mine is Serie 8 PIN675N17E from 2015

Current equivalent is Serie 6 PIX631HC1E - this has a bit more power on the small zone and the flex zone.

It seriously is the most satisfying purchase I’ve made in the past decade. My only regret is not getting the 90cm version.

The most important feature for me was the ability to directly choose the power level, and not have to fumble with up and down plus or minus buttons. If I’m boiling the crap out of ramen or something and it is about to over flow, the ability to press 3 then see the bubbles practically instantly stop is amazing, and I know that if I had to spam a down button 10 times, by time it lowered, I’d have water everywhere.

On a side note, I got sick of expensive cordless kettles breaking or leaking after a couple of years (I’ve never been comfortable with boiling water in plastic), so ended up just getting a nice Le Crueset stovetop, it’s the perfect size for the largest cooking spot, and blasting 3.7KW into it boils it faster than any kettle that plugs in.

  • Thanks OP

  • Nice deal. We just picked up a similar set and are now on induction and they seem to work great. Get a steel scrubber for the harder to clean stuff.

ffs just upgraded to induction and looking for new cookware, was going to pay $180 for 5 pce set the other day

  • Bought one without thinking 😬😬

    • When did you order? Showing as $500 for me

        • Ahh no worries. Sad I missed

          • +2

@AusDaniel: Had it in my cart. Product review only 3/5 so no regrets i didnt buy

  • OOS, was waiting for this one :(

  • +2

Dammit missed out, I've had my eye on this. Spend a couple of hours without checking ozbargain and this could be you. Refresh early, refresh often

  • This isnt a 10 piece set. This is what most other brands would call a 16piece set!!! (The rack of the roasting tray as well 🙄). Amazing find OP. Darned to have missed it.

If anyone happens to have impulse purchased and regrets, happy to pay to have it redirected…

I bought some of these and they were rusty out of the box…

  • Ive previously purchased cooking sets from places like Harris Scarfe at a discounted price. Theres always something wrong with them. I might be wrong but are these disconnected sets, and the ones at places like Harris Scarfe, factory seconds? If anyone has insider knowledge, it would be good to know.
